JOB VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT

The Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) is inviting applications from suitably qualified Ghanaians to fill vacant positions in the Local
Government Service (OHLGS, Regional Co-ordinating Councils, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies) as follows:

Position: Assistant Engineer (Serial no. OHLGS 1)
Job Purpose: Provides technical advice in engineering programmes and projects
and assists in the operational implementation of engineering works.
Accountability: The Assistant Engineer shall report to the Head of Department/Unit
Qualification: Diploma/HND in Engineering (Civil, Quantity Surveying, Building
Technology, Construction Management & Architecture and Mechanical) from a
recognized Polytechnic/University.
Remuneration: The Technician Engineer is a Diploma/HND entry position with
salary level SSSP 15L and other attractive fringe benefits.

Qualification: Bachelors degree in Engineering (Civil, Quantity Surveying, Building

Technology, Construction Technology & Management, Mechanical and Architecture)
from a recognized university
Remuneration: The Assistant Engineer is a graduate (first degree) entry position
with salary level SSSP 16L and other attractive fringe benefits.
Position: Environmental Health Officer/Assistant (Serial no. OHLGS 7)
Job Purpose: To provide frontline operational support for Environmental Health
service delivery.

Accountability: The Environmental Health Officer/Assistant shall report to the

Head of Department/Unit.
Position: Assistant Programmer (Serial no. OHLGS 2)
Qualification: Certificate/Diploma in Environmental Health from a recognized
school of hygiene.
Job Purpose: To provide technical advice in the acquisition, development,
implementation and deployment of Information Technology systems and resources Remuneration: The Environmental Health Officer/Assistant is a Certificate/
for business development and improvement. Diploma position with salary level SSSP 11L-13L and other attractive fringe benefits.
Accountability: The Assistant Programmer shall report to the Head of Department/
Unit.
Position: Assistant Catering Officer (Serial no. OHLGS 8)
Qualification: Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science and
Computer Engineering from a recognized university.
Job Purpose: To provide frontline services for catering service delivery
Remuneration: The Assistant Programmer is a graduate (first degree) entry
position with salary level SSSP 16L and other attractive fringe benefits. Accountability: The Assistant Catering Officer shall report to the Head of Catering
Department/Unit.

Qualification: Certificate/Diploma in Catering from a recognized institution

Position: Assistant Procurement Officer (Serial no. OHLGS 3)
Remuneration: The Assistant Catering Officer is a Certificate/Diploma position
Job Purpose: To provide technical advice in the development and implementation with salary level SSSP 14L and other attractive fringe benefits.

Accountability: The Assistant Procurement Officer shall report to the Head of

Qualification: Bachelors Degree in Procurement Management or Logistics and
Supply Chain Management from a recognized university.

Position: Assistant Human Resource Manager (Serial no. OHLGS 4)
Job Purpose: To provide technical advice in the development and implementation
of human resource management and development policies and programmes of the
Local Government Service.
Accountability: The Assistant Human Resource Manager shall report to the Head
of Department/Unit.
Qualification: Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management/Development,
General Management, Business or Public Administration from a recognized
university.
Position: Stewards (Serial no. OHLGS 9)
Job Purpose: To provide leadership support in the execution of routine duties
Accountability: The Steward shall report to the Head of Department/Unit.
Qualification: HND in Hospitality Management or its equivalence
Remuneration: The salary level of a Steward is SSSP 15L with other attractive
fringe benefits.
Position: Driver (Serial no. OHLGS 10)
Qualification: MSLC/WASSCE/SSSCE with at least 2 years of driving experience
in a reputable institution and possess a valid Drivers License.
Remuneration: The salary level of a Driver is SSSP 8L with other attractive fringe
benefits.
Position: Security Officer (Serial no. OHLGS 11)

Remuneration: The Assistant Human Resource Manager is a graduate (first degree)

Job Purpose: To lead in the protection of life and property in the Organization
entry position with salary level SSSP 16L and other attractive fringe benefits.
Qualification: SSSCE/WASSCE or its equivalent.

Position: Assistant Statistician (Serial no. OHLGS 5)

Job Purpose: To provide technical advice and operational support for the
implementation of the activities of the Department.
Accountability: The Assistant Statistician shall report to the Head of Department/
Unit.
Qualification: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics,
Demography, Population Studies, Geography, Sociology and Development Planning
from a recognized university.
Remuneration: The Assistant Statistician is a graduate (first degree) entry position
with salary level SSSP 16L and other attractive fringe benefits.
Position: Technician Engineer (Serial no. OHLGS 6)

1) Applicants for positions OHLGS 1-OHLGS 6 must have completed the
mandatory National Service.
