Application Calculation
Engine (ACE)

9.1 ACE Summary


The Application Calculation Engine Summary window (Figure 9-1) provides information, in
a tabular format, about the systems points and their associated ACE procedures. The
points displayed are determined by the current operators view area selections. For more
information, see Area View and Control (Section 2.1.1). The summary also allows you to
filter point information by code or group; for more information, see Summary Filters
(Section 3.3).

Fields Description
Name The individual ACE configuration point names.
Code The name of the ACE code that is associated with the point.
Output Point This field indicates the location where the resulting data is
written.
Last Run The last time the calculation or control routine ran.
Enable This field indicates whether or not the code is enabled to run.

NOTE The code may be disabled by the database administra-


tor during database creation/modification. The code may also
be automatically disabled if ACE configuration or code errors
are detected. The ACE control panel can be used to enable or
disable ACE code.

9.2 ACE Control


The ACE Control dialog box (Figure 9-2) provides the operator with an interface that allows
you to enable and run ACE procedures. In addition, you can also view point alarms.

Fields Description
Name: For information about these fields, refer to Application Calcu-
lation Engine Summary fields (Table 9-1).
Code: For information about these fields, refer to Application Calcu-
lation Engine Summary fields (Table 9-1).
Group: Many records have this field. A group is assigned to all points
that are closely-related.

Fields Description
Output Point: For information about these fields, refer to Application Calcu-
lation Engine Summary fields (Table 9-1).
Output Value: This field contains the calculated value of the point.

NOTE This may not be the value from the code. If the point is
in manual-override the manual value is shown rather than the
calculated value. The point is not disabled in this case (unlike
with other ACE errors) as the condition is likely to clear under
normal operating conditions.
Run Now button Click this button to run the ACE procedure.
When you click this button and have control of a point, the
button deactivates and the text changes to Running. Once the
calculation is complete, the Run Now text is display again and
the button is reactivated.
When you click this button and do not have control of a point,
an error message appears. Click OK to return to the ACE Con-
trol dialog box. The button remains disabled.
Enabled button Click this button to enable the ACE procedure.
Point Alarms... button Click this button to call up the Point Alarm summary. Refer to
Point Alarm Summary (Section 1.4).
Dismiss button Click this button to dismiss the ACE Control dialog box
(Figure 9-2).
