Objectives:
State your purpose/s for observing a particular class. Specifically indicate the theme you
wish to observe. Your theme may focus on learning and motivation.

The focus of the observation was on the Affective behavior of the student in a
grade 9 class. Specifically, the observer paid particular attention to the students
interest in learnings. This observation also wants to see the learning performance
of each student in the discussion.

Observation:
Write down your observations with substantial details about the theme you observe. Just
describe everything you observe, without interpreting any aspect of it.

The class was started by a prayer and a short recap on their lesson discussed last
meeting. The teacher proceeded in introducing the new topic for the new chapter
which was all about the Supply and Demand. The teacher asked first the students
of the difference of a Law of Supply and Law of Demand. Using the book, some
of the students raised their hand to answer the question given to them and after
they give their answers, the teacher gives feedback to every student who gave
their answers, while the others are not paying attention and they are not
cooperating to the class discussion because they are all busy in chitchatting with
their other classmates. When the teacher notice that theyre students are not
listening to the discussion, the teacher suddenly interrupts the class discussion
and the teacher asked what they are doing at the back and the teacher noticed
that they are doing something for their next class, then the teacher confiscated the
things that they are doing. Afterwards, they continue the recitation and then they
preceded in discussing all about the Supply and Demand, but then again other
students are very noisy and some are tapping the chair that could make noise so
the teacher stop again in discussing. So that instead of proceeding in the
discussion the teacher gives a short quiz for be able to keep them quit and focus
on the task that the teacher gives to them.

Prospects:
Think about the benefits of the behaviors you observe in terms of what might be learned
from it that is/are useful in defining your own teaching philosophy and in rethinking the
way you should teach. Briefly discuss those prospects in this section.

My assumption on this is that students in this level supposedly they need less
supervision because they have enough knowledge of knowing their responsibility
as a student. But on this, its opposite because they must need an attention of their
teacher. The result of this, teaching should be focus also on changing the wicked
attitude of the students and they must give some highlights about values in their
every lesson/ discussion.

In teaching they must know every students interest on how they can acquire
learnings. Interest of the students can be the basis of not getting bored inside the
class during discussion because if the students are really enjoying the class
session every time they enter the class they must give their best to be cooperative
and attentive during discussion. They can show how interested they are in
learning.

Issues:
Discuss the issues you see in the class you observe, particularly those that are directly
associated with the theme of your observation.

These are the issues that surfaced from the observation:

Rowdy Class
-Teaching this kind of students is such a worst experienced in some teacher
because it is very hard to handle this kind of class. But in some cases there are
several teachers that are capable of handling a rowdy class because for their own
perspective it might be challenging if they can be part changing the bad attitude of
the class.

Chatting with seatmates

-Communication is very important in our life, because of the language we have we
can communicate and interact with other persons to know them well. And we
should be thankful that we have communication skills that we are freely express
our feelings and thoughts in mind. But we, as a person we should know how to use
this skill in a good way and we should know how to limit of what we are talking.
When the students are inside the classroom they should use their communication
skills to participate and respond to the question of the teacher in class not in
chatting with their classmate that would lead to destruction of the class.

Low Class Participation

-As a student, we all know that before going to school we are aware that our
school is our learning place and its our responsibility to do task that the teacher

gave to us. So that, during class hours students should do their best to be more
attentive and cooperative inside the classroom.

Insights:
Reflect on your observation experience and focus on the new understandings you have
drawn from it. Report your new understandings or new insights in this section. Your
insights may be focused on the prospects or issues you discuss above.

Based on my observation, in teaching it is important to know first the interest of

the students so that we could catch their class participation during the discussion
and they could not feel bored when we are teaching.

In teaching I realized that we could encounter different behavior to our students or

our class. Like, its really hard to handle a rowdy class even if you are a very kind
person, as well as a teacher if you handle such kind of this class you will be
triggered to become a strict teacher. But sort of, I want to experience this kind of
class because I think it will be a good experience as a teacher if we can handle the
noisy class and its my success if I could change this bad attitude of the class.

And also having this kind of behavior is not new to all the schools. so that, we as a
teacher and as their second guardian this is our responsibility to change them and
teach them a good behaviors that they can apply wherever they are.
