Tampa Site
A. The number of students current and projected at the Tampa Site:
Fall 2017: 19 students. Spring 2018: 40 forecast. Fall 2018 40+ projected. Spring 2019 40+
projected. Access to the small student population at Tampa allows for significant contact
with individual students as well as faculty. The library space is open and visible from the
commons area with a full-time Medical Librarian and Library Systems Coordinator.
B. Significant events/presentations to come:
In-class learning sessions scheduled: Nursing 320 Evidence Based Medicine; Nursing 320
APA tutorial. Librarian participates in program orientations, introducing library resources
and services. Outreach events for Tampa site will coincide with main campus events,
including library events such as Black History Month, Banned Books Week, etc. Projected
Tampa specific events: Brown Bag Tutorials (Topics to include APA; Finding info in
databases; How to use the library website (chat, databases, book checkouts, interlibrary
loans); Zen Garden: Puzzle/games/coloring materials and healthy snacks available to
students for stress relief in the library (for midterm and finals weeks).
C. Data collection, effectiveness, and reach:
Statistics will be collected including number of attendees, participation rates, and success
utilizing questionnaires after event. Materials consumed by attendees (i.e. #of coloring
pages); observation of use.
D. Important project(s) and status of progress (Current):
Eclipse event which coincided with the distribution of nursing bags. Candy and cupcakes
were given as well as information about the eclipse (this event took place only inside the
commons area) with live streaming video of the event via NASA and music played that was
eclipse themed. Success was measured by the number of students in attendance (100%) as
well as Faculty attendance (also 100%). One on one contacts with each student was possible
to share library services not limited to Nursing.
Library Website
A. Number of students current usage of the Library Website and availability:
We have ~15,000 library website visits per month with the previous annual visits totaling
106,491. The library website is available to the entire student population, graduate,
undergraduate, DCOM, Vet, Nursing all programs.
B. Significant events/presentations to come:
The website views are significant as the outreach events we have all year are shared on the
library website (and social media, which is accessible via the library website). Future events
include Black History Month, Womens History Month, Banned Books Week. We have a
regularly updated blog which includes book reviews, success is measured by site visits.
C. Data collection, effectiveness, assessment, and reach:
While the Outreach events data is collected separately, library website data is collected and
stored via tools that are included with the website software.
D. Important project(s) and status of progress:
Website searches can be compared to events such as librarian outreach projects and
information sessions. Success is measured by site visits.
