question.
List three important words (adjectives) that are reflected in this artwork that are
congruent with your foundational beliefs related to nursing as an art and science:
1. Educated
2. Complete
3. Highest-quality
List three significant concepts or ideas that you derive from this artwork that inspire you
about being a professional nurse and embrace your role as a change agent.
1. Patient self-care
2. Student-centered learning
3. Quality and evidence-based competencies
In your opinion, what are the main ideas related to nursing in this artwork?
My main ideas related to nursing education are listed within the callouts of the artwork.

As an educator, my purpose is to provide the nurse the knowledge for providing appropriate

interventions; the lessons should be learner-centered, including active participation by the nurse.

The nurses focus of care may be an individual or a community. Nursing care should be

evidence-based, including input of the client.

In your opinion, how can you translate these ideas in clinical practice to provide patient
centered care? Base your response upon a nursing theorist or framework. Cite your
theorist here.
The concepts of nursing contain multiple propositions, according to Florence

Nightingale; they include nursing activities to promote health. The patient/client is a

multidimensional entity that nursing care is directed. The health of the patient/client is his/her

choice to maintain or return to. The environment of the patient/client effects his/her health

(Nursing Theories, 2012).

In your opinion, how does your basic philosophy of nursing influence your beliefs related to
nursing education?

The patient, client, or community will ultimately decide what level of health or wellness,

I as the nurse will assist them to obtain. Also, as a nurse educator it is the student who chooses if

they will participate in the learning activity. I can encourage participation by the nurse with the

use of learner-centered lessons.

Write a brief, narrative synopsis (paragraph) summarizing your personal philosophy of

nursing and how this artwork helps demonstrate your beliefs.
My artwork illustrates my philosophy as a nurse educator. I empower nurses to assist

patients attain their desired level of health. At the same time, the nurses I work with, also help

me to be a better nurse and educator. It is my belief that an effective nurse educator allows the

learner to direct their education. Optimum nursing education incorporates evidence, quality,

safety, teamwork, informatics, and patient-centered competencies where students are actively

involved (Sherwood & Zomorodi, 2014). It is also important that nurses are encouraged to

participate in improving communities of their patients/clients. By educating nurses, I influence

care provided to their patients.
