specifications & drawings and inspections are done as per contract.
6. The Surveyor/Site Engineer/Supervisor is responsible for Setting out the area and measuring, monitoring
and controlling the lines and levels.
7. The QA/QC Engineer/ QC inspector is responsible to ensure that the work performed is in compliance
with the approved method statement & other applicable requirements.
8. The Post Tension Staff responsibility is as per the attached Responsibility matrix.
9. The Safety Officer is responsible to ensure that all safety precautions are in place and that the personnel
on site possess the necessary and essential PPE.
10. The Safety Officer is responsible to ensure that essential work permits are available prior to the
commencement of the work
8. PROCEDURE
8.1. Quality Requirements
1. The works shall be performed as mentioned in this procedure and the quality assurance
requirements shall be consistent with the relevant sections of Quality System Procedure Manual of
Contractor as well with the Project Quality Plan.
2. Quality Control and Tests for concrete shall be as per contract specification.
3. Testing laboratory shall be approved by the Engineer.
4. All gauges used for stressing shall be calibrated and certificate of calibration shall be maintained.
8.4. Formwork
(Refer Section 031100 of specification)
1. Form works shall be designed and constructed in accordance with applicable codes within the
specified tolerances to the shape, lines, and dimension required by the design drawings(s).
2. Forms shall be coated with mould oil or release agent.
3. For slab work, Shore/ support shall be provided for floor directly under slab being placed so that
loads from construction above will safely transfer directly to these shores.
4. Formwork shall be struck without damaging, disturbing, or overloading the structure. &shall be after
applying the final stress in the slab and shall be agreed with the Engineer.
5. Calculations for formwork shall be submitted.
9. Set up slab edge formwork and stressing recess on slab edge formwork.
10. Install anchorage bearing plate to stressing recess formwork
11. Support and fix the anchorage bearing plate into position using chair.
12. Provide and fix grout vent
13. Provide and fix anchorage bursting reinforcement
14. Seal all connections of components with tape
15. Set up of Dead End anchorage components
16. The onion (bulb) dead end type will be used.
17. The strand for each tendon will be formed with onion dead end by means of a special hydraulic
jack.
18. Anchorage bursting reinforcement at DE will be fixed into position as shown on attached DE details.
8.8. Concreting
1. Pouring concrete shall be done when the mild steel reinforcement and Post-tensioning components
are completely installed.
2. Should construction joints be needed during the pour, joints shall be located on drawing.
3. Tendon shall be observed during concreting. Any misalignment of tendon shall be rectified.
4. After concreting is complete the concrete should be cured as appropriate until the specified
strength has been attained prior to stressing operation.
5. Cube sampled shall be a minimum of 1 set (7 cubes) for each 75cum. and thereof of each concrete
placed in any one day. Of which 3 cubes shall be tested for 7 days and 3 for 28 days compressive
strength. 1 cube shall be retained as reserve for later testing.
6. Additional 15 cubes/slab shall be taken and set of 3 cubes shall be tested at 24hrs interval for
monitoring the concrete strength to apply the initial and final stress.
8.9. Stressing
1. Take off side formwork and stressing recess formwork prior to stressing operation
2. Clean up strand prior to stressing operation
3. Colour mark strand for elongation measurement reference
4. Place anchor head and wedge into each strand
5. Commence stressing after concrete has attained the specified compressive strength.
6. Stressing load on each strand should be as specified prior to lock off.
7. Stressing should be done according to sequence given. The tendon should be stressed from one end
only except otherwise indicated on the Dwg.
8. Stressing can be performed in both directions (transverse and longitudinal tendon) at the same time
if specified.
9. Elongation should be observed and recorded as soon as the stressing is complete.
10. Stressing equipments i.e. jack and pump should be set at a given operating
11. Pressure as conformation to the calibration document.
12. The elongation as measured should be verified with theoretically calculated
13. Elongation, as submitted. The discrepancies if any should be rectified satisfactorily.
14. After the elongation has been approved the strand should be cut by abrasive disc.
