Power Section Configurations
Power Section NOV Vector
Legacy NOV standard elastomer power section
Options:
Standard NBR elastomer
HNBR elastomer oil based mud / higher temperature
PowerPLUS Power Section
Maximum differential pressure limit is 150% of standard
elastomers
Speed output is the same at max differential pressure
Variations: PowerPLUS RR (PRR) and PowerPLUS OB (POB)
HEMIDRIL Even Wall Technology
Limit the amount of rubber
Conventional
Less leakage and less heat
Limit the amount of rubber
More pressure and torque
75% more pressure per stage
Elastomer
75% more torque
HEMIDRIL
NOV Elastomers (Monoflo; R&M)
Conventional vs. ERT
Driveshaft Assembly
Driveshaft Assembly
Converts the eccentric motion of the rotor to concentric motion input to the bearing
assembly.
Allows the motor to be bent and steered.
Carries thrust load from the rotor caused by the operating pressure across the power section.
Consists of two oil sealed universal joints connected by a shaft.
The upper joint connects to the rotor.
The lower joint connects to the bearing assembly.
Adjustable Assembly
Adjustable Assembly
Advantages:
Lowest cost per hour in most applications.
Long service life for components.
The best option for air drilling applications.
No-Bypass designs are the best choice for running RSS below motor.
Disadvantages
Not well suited for hot hole application.
Risk of seal failure in gritty drilling fluids.
ST3 Sealed Bearing Technology
Advantages:
Simplicity of service.
Well suited for hot hole applications.
Well suited for invasive drilling fluids.
Disadvantages:
Typically higher cost per hour.
Internal components start wearing immediately.
Not suitable for air or nitrogen drilling
ML3 Mud Lubricated Bearing
