Moorabool Shire Libraries are celebrating their first 1000 Books before School graduate. 3.10pm.
Nine-month-old Charlie, with his parents, started the program on May 9 this year and after
five-months of reading six books a day, he reached the final milestone of 1000 books.
The state-wide program targets children aged between zero and five-years-old in order to
increase their readiness for school and help develop important literacy skills.
Throughout his journey, Charlie was awarded milestone prizes including colouring pencils,
a door hanger, magnets, bag tags and the final prize of alphabet flash cards.
Moorabool Shire Libraries will be celebrating the achievements of participating children
with a 500 Club party on Friday November 10 at the Ballan Library and Monday November
13 at the Lerderderg Library. Both parties will commence at 3:45pm.
For more information on the 1000 books before school program or to book for the 500 Club
party, visit www.moorabool.vic.gov.au/libraries.
