1 General
These release notes describe new features and software and hardware components
for XMP1 5.8 and 5.8 SR1, SOX 5.8 and LCC 2.1.
XMP1 release 5.8 and 5.8 SR1 consists of new XMP1 hardware components and
new firmware.
SOX release 5.8 includes the support of all new HW components of XMP1 and
XMP1-LCC.
LCC release 2.1 consists of new LCC hardware components and new firmware.
The following chapters describe all components and features, bug fixes and other
modifications introduces in this release.
The Known Issues section lists open issues that apply to the current release and
may apply to previous releases. It lists also known caveats resolved in this or former
releases.
Annex A lists an overview of the existing versions, the included firmware, several
compatibility lists and an overview of the card firmware.
This section gives an overview of the new features implemented in R5.8 and
R5.8 SR1. For detailed a description refer to the XMP1 documentation.
The Sub-Module SL-LAN offers interfaces for local Ethernet links and TDM based
WAN links. Each XMP1-SL can be equipped with a Sub-module SL-LAN, which
provides a 4 port Layer-2-switch with 2 external 10/100 Base-T RJ-45 interfaces and
2 Ethernet over PDH WAN ports. Layer-2-switch has VLAN capability and can act as
D- and Q-Bridge. It is also possible to bypass the switch to enable direct point-to-
point applications. Mirroring of Ethernet data is supported.
With XMP1-LCC release 2.1 the new POW2 module and PORT STM (4) module is
introduced.
POW2 module
The Power Connection Board 2 (POW2) provides two interfaces to connect the
power supply voltage. The nominal power supply voltage is -48/60 V DC. The power
supply voltage range is -36 V DC to -75 V DC.
The POW2 module is equipped in card slot 1 of the XMP1-LCC subrack.
2.2.1 XMP1
IO interfaces
IO interfaces of Central unit can be used with network reactions (SOX).
MTU size
MTU size for XMP1-SDH nodes can be adjusted to 1500 byte with the help of
program files. This setting must be done for compatibility reasons at XMP1-SDH
network elements (DCC network) which are connected to XMP1-LCC. In pure
XMP1-SDH networks this setting can also be used.
2.2.2 XMP1-LCC
2.2.3 SOX
3 Corrections
This chapter contains a listing of the corrections carried out with release 5.8 SR1.
During the start SOX analyzes the used database and recognizes, that the database
is not compatible with the software. Therefore the converting of the database is
started and SOX is transferring the data into a new database. Converting of the data
base is ok. It was noticed in some cases that XMP1 network elements could not be
opened any more after converting the data base. This behavior has been solved with
R5.8 SR1.
This section lists open issues that apply to the current release and may apply to
previous releases. Also tips, hints and descriptions of known problems together with
workaround are included. For not listed firmware no restrictions are known.
1. In non-revertive clock mode the priority sent to the Avoid forced switch
external E1 interfaces is not set correctly, when the to the internal
node switches to the internal oscillator. oscillator.
The priority of the previously selected source is
sent.
6 Additional Notes
An upgrade of an existing XMP1 V5.* system is not essential, please read the
recommendation part of the respective chapter. An upgrade of the SOX Software
because of the improvements is reasonable, but it is not obligatory necessary.
Important Notes:
1. Since the version 5.7 the software comes from Keymile Networks GmbH. The
software will be installed at C:\program files\Keymile. The different software parts
now use Keymile in its name, e.g. Keymile.Sox.SoxUserInterface.exe.config.
2. As of version 5.8 the installation and deinstallation of the software is partly
done with an installation assistant (Wizard).
7.4.1.1 SOX
7.4.1.2 LCC
The Multi-user License is based on an existing SOX NMS license (with the existing
numbers of nodes).
It contains a dongle upgrade key to make the existing key multi-user compliant. The
description XMP1 Commissioning Instructions Release 5.8 (order no. .
FCD901106) explains the upgrade procedure.

Notes:
X: Correct combination according to the specific releases.
(X): Possible compatible combination.
It is generally recommended that in one single node all active firmware modules
should belong to the same release.
The SOX Software SOX 5.8 (NMS and LCT) and the SOX-MSP Software 5.8 are
fully compatible with the firmware 5.8 and supports the completely configuration,
maintenance and management of the xmp1 system.
The Ethernet SDH and iSHDSL module is supported as of SOA version 7.0.
Notes:
(9) Most of the functions will be supported.
The XMP1 firmware version 5.1 SR1 supports the node management of the
XMP1 network element with SDH and PDH cards with SOA as one network
element.
The SDH Ethernet card will be supported with SOA Issue 7.0.
Notes:
(1) Some of the functions will be supported with 6.0.78 and later.
(2) Complete support with version 5.6.105 and later, using 2 Network element solution with XMP1
V5.0
(3) Complete support with version 6.0.87 and later, using 2 Network element solution with XMP1
V5.0
(4) Complete support with version 6.1.94 and later, using 2 Network element solution with XMP1
V5.0
(5) Support of network elements without SDH cards. Network elements with SDH cards are not
supported because they are the new network element type large XMP1 or XMP1 SDH.
(6) Network elements with SDH cards except of the new SDH Ethernet cards will be supported.
(7) Network elements with iSHDSL cards will be supported with SOA 7.0.
(8) Support of the video card with SOA 7.1
(9) No support of new HW components OPTC37 and VF E&M
Note:
The XMP1 firmware version 5.1 SR1 supports the node management of the XMP1 network element
with SDH and PDH cards with SOA as one network element.
For LCC support SOA version 7.1 is required.
