Abstract
Introduction
Adolescence is a fleeting period in an individuals life. (Cabigon, 1999) It is full
of good and bad memories that you will never forget. Also, it is the period when an
individual goes through puberty they undergoes growth that leads to physical,
cognitive, and affective changes. This transition that adolescence is experiencing
may lead to many challenges that need proper guidance either in order to avoid
unsatisfactory results in their lives.

In todays status quo, these challenges that adolescents are facing will
significantly create a ripple affect for the rest of their lives. Thus, people who are
responsible in the growth of adolescence must focus on helping these young men in
dealing with these challenges for them to become more productive and more
responsible person possessing good heart with strong dedication for peace and love
for our country.

The leaders in the society should resolve the problem of lacking academic
knowledge, health and nutrition awareness, self- esteem, understanding in financial
needs, plan and guidance in future career path, value on the importance of religion,
value for moral, and others. Since current economic stance needs productivity and
responsible adults to maintain and improve the countrys status, there is a need to
provide great importance and investment to the adolescence of the present to
resolve the problems in the future.

Because of this awakening situation of the adolescents and the country, this
research would be of great help in solving the future problems of the Philippines by
investigating the societal problem faced by adolescents. The government must
prioritize on the adolescent of this country. The leaders of society must also
understand the situations of adolescents and if possible help them with their
challenges. If this is not possible, we intend this to be a reference paper to further
studies for other researchers who are interested in further doing a study about the
adolescents in the Philippines.
Statement of the Problem

This research shall study the challenges faced by adolescence in Iriga City and
in Nabua, thus, the researchers would like to seek answers to the following
questions:

1. What are the challenges faced by adolescents?

2. Why do adolescents face these challenges?
3. How do they plan to overcome the challenges in their adolescence period?

Assumptions

1. These are vices of adolescents, self-esteem issues, and future career path.
2. These adolescents face vices because they feel stressed and because of
influence of friends, lack of encouragement from adults, teachers, and other
older people, and they lack good influence of friends.
3. They will be able to overcome the challenges through learning from their
experiences.

Scope and Delimitations

The study focused on the adolescents ages 15 - 17 who are studying in Grade
10 Charity of Victor Bernal High School and Grade 10 Rizal of Sto. Nino National High
School. There were a total of 81 of 81 respondents from the survey

Significance of the Study

Government, The study is significant to the government because they would

understand the challenges that young men and women are going through, thus, the
results of this study shall help the government in creating programs that will
improve the lives of adolescents.

School, It will also be beneficial to schools because this will help them give more
importance in educating the students and creating for a that would help the youth
in school overcome the challenges.

Parents: The study is significant to Parents because the results of this study will help
them understand the possible positive and negative situations that their children
encounter. This will also allow the parents to learn the value of giving advice to
them.

Students: The study is significant to Students because they would be knowledgeable

in handling different challenges in adolescence period situation.

Researcher: The study is significant to the Researchers because the findings of this
research would possibly help future researchers.

Future Researchers: The study is significant to Future Researchers because this

would possibly be a reference paper for their own study.

Method used for research

The researchers used the quasi-experimental research design and used the
qualitative method of research. Descriptive method of was used in this study. The
survey questionnaire was used as the data gathering tool. The Data Gathering
procedures are as follows,

1. The researchers made survey questionnaire survey questionnaire.

2. The researcher distributed the survey questionnaire to advisers of Grade 10
Charity of Victor Bernal and Grade 10 Rizal of Sto. Nino National High School.
3. The researchers then, retrieved the survey questionnaires from class advisers
of the 2 sections.
4. After retrieving the survey questionnaire, the researchers reviewed, tallied,
and analyzed the answers from the survey.

Based on our survey conducted in Sto. nino national High School and Victor Bernal
High School, In Sto. nino national High school and Victor Vernal High school,
Academic concerns, in lack of knowledge/unprepared there are 27 persons
answered in Sto. nino national High School while 5 answered in Victor Bernal High
School , in Lack of motivation there are 4 persons answered in Sto,nino national
High School and 2 answered in Victor Bernal High School, then in social distraction
there are 7 persons answered in Sto. nino national High School and 12 answered in
Victor Bernal High School and in procrastination and time management issues there
are 5 persons answered in Sto. nino national High School while in Victor Bernal High
School there are 29. Health and nutrition concerns, in Sto. nino national High School
there are 10 persons answered in poor dietary habits while in Victor Bernal High
School there are12, in Vices there are 22 answered in Sto. nino national High School
and in Victor Bernal High School there are 1, in Exercise habits, in Sto. nino national
High School there are 7 has answered and in Victor Bernal High School there are 21.
Self-esteem issues, in uninvolved/Negligent parents both of Sto. nino national High
School and Victor Bernal High School there are 1 person answered, and in Negative
thoughts there are 16 answered in Sto. nino national High School and in Victor
Bernal High School there are 21, and in Negative peers there are 11 answered in Sto.
nino national High School and in Victor Bernal High School there are 5, in previous
bad choice there are 13 answered in Sto.nino National high school while in Victor
Bernal High School there are 6, and last in trauma Victor Bernal High School got
answered 5 while in Sto. nino national High School 0. Financial Difficulties, in single
parent provider, in Sto. nino national High School there are 8 persons answered and
there are 11 persons answered in Victor Bernal High School, and in Poor financial
management there are 13 answered in Sto. nino national High School and in VVHS
there are 20, in temporary jobs of parents there are 10 in Sto. nino national High
School and in Victor Bernal High School there are 11, last in Vices of parents, in S
Sto. nino national High School there are 11 persons answered again and in Victor
Bernal High School there are only 1. Future Career path, in financial needs there are
24 answer in Sto. nino national High School and 31 answered in Victor Bernal High
School, and in Parents against your career choice there are 13 person answered in
Sto. nino national High School and in VVHS there are 3. Religious Belief, in choice
number one, no faith in God, there are 7 answered in Sto. nino national High School,
and in VVHS there are 4, in Weak faith in God there are 9 persons answered in Sto.
nino national High School while in Victor Bernal High School there are 3, in not
believing in religion but believes in God there are 14 answered in Sto. nino national
High School and in Victor Bernal High School there are 8, and last in Environment in
Sto. nino national High School there are 10 person answered while in Victor Bernal
High School there are 4 only, Morals, in Influence of friends there are 21 person
answered in St. ,nino national High School students and in Victor Bernal High School
students there are 32, and in Environment there are 16 answered in Sto. nino
national High School while in Victor Bernal High School there are 4 only. In OTHERS
CHALLENGES no one added anything.
