ABS-CBNs Primetime Shows

Media has always been the number 1 instrument for the people to express their
beliefs. One of the most accessible forms of media which almost every Filipino citizen
can utilize is television shows. You just need a television and a signal from an antenna
and there you have it you can now watch and view television shows.

Ang Probinsyano

The Television show titled FPJs Ang Probinsyano is a remake of the 1997 movie
which has the same title created and starred by Fernando Poe Jr. After 18 years the
movie got a recreation in the year 2015 as a television show aired on the ABS-CBN
channel. Unlike in the movie which was so action packed and is kind of only made for
adult eyes the remake was created for a wider market which involves every age member
of the society, wherein the show links the audiences to the situations played by the
actors which can be seen in real life. Intertwined with this tale are the rest of their
families, friends, and colleagues who help intensify the teleseryes vision to portray the
values of service, honor, and justice. At the same time, they present the Filipino society's
reality which challenges these ideals. By targeting audiences of all ages the show gains
the opportunity to express their beliefs on the issues currently happening around us and
debunked stereotypes that are prevalent in our country. The show also teaches its
viewers a sense of decency and morality which debunks the morality of the few that they
believe to be good when it is actually wrong. It stresses the importance of family,
honesty, friendship and other important values that every Filipino should have.

La Luna Sangre

La Luna Sangre, a third book of a captivating story that began in 2008

with Lobo and went on with a sequel called Imortal in 2010. Through the years, it
narrated a tale of a mythical, supernatural nature, combined with mortal themes that
identify with viewers. Now this ongoing saga of conflict is set to reach its climactic peak,
despite what was believed as a harmonious pact of amity between the werewolves and
vampires. This will lead to one epic confrontation for the ages, with two main characters
in a culminating final battle during the night of the Blood Red Moon, or La Luna
Sangrethe Supremo of the evil vampires who believe their kind should rule the
world, and the one person prophesized to slay him.

In order to produce an effective and realistic written report, I as the program

monitory/analyst, searched for the fans reactions, comments, and ratings regarding the
shows.

The AGB Nielsen and the Kantar Media showed the ratings of program coming
from each of the two biggest rival giant network of the country, the ABS-CBN and GMA.
According to them, FPJs Ang Probinsyano beat its new rival as it recorded a national
TV rating of 39.8% versus Alyas Robin Hood that got 18.9%.
More viewers also tuned in to La Luna Sangre as it hit a national TV rating of 33.7%,
compared to Mulawin vs. Ravena that got 14.7%. This shows that ABS-CBN is topping
the ratings for their prime time shows.

Cory Vidanes, the Chief Operating Officer of ABS-CBN, announced that Ang
Probinsyano will run until 2018, comments of fans about being tired and already sick
of the show flooded. According to a comment of a fan from fashionpulis.com; Fan ako
ng AP pero juskolord naman, wag naman hanggang 2018. Ano yun, hanggang 2018 nyo
papahirapan si Cardo tas sa last episode lang may mangyayaring maganda? Baka hindi
na ako umabot ng 2018 sa high blood na inaabot ko sa AP. Through this comment, the
production team of ABS-CBN can come up with something addressing to the concern of
this fan. I suggest, that if FPJAP would really pursue until 2018, the team can make
unpredictable scenes to make the fans stick to one channel and continue watching until
the very last episode. If the show could also end earlier, other production teams would
also be given a chance to have other shows aired which would be a brand new
opportunity for the network.

While for La Luna Sangre, there is a great market for the show since KathNiel
fans are all over the country. This show started just a few months ago which makes it
fresh from the eyes of the viewers. LLSs production team has to make sure to keep the
fire burning and continue capturing attention from viewers. Since the show also uses a
lot of special effects, they should also do their best to keep the effects realistic in order
for them to be not ridiculed by the fans. So far, this show is topping the ratings as well
which means they have a large market to cater. LLS will have to be very particular in
grabbing the opportunity with each of the episodes they air to keep the viewers
interested.
