lmost all of us know the story about Indians and their crab mentalities. For the benefit of the
minority, let me reiterate the tale: when an assignment of live crabs reached the US with the
name of the country from where it originated. As the US customs department opened the
crate, they were debating amongst themselves on how to find the origin country. Sensing an
opportunity, some crabs were trying to crawl out of the container through the sides; at the same time,
some of the other crabs instead of utilizing this chance of escape got busy in pulling the others down.
The Customs officials heaved a sigh of relief and concluded the consignment was from India.
Unfortunately, this typical Indian malaise manifests itself prominently in the IT channel fraternity.
Probably that is the reason why most IT channel associations are unable to function properly, especially
in lobbying matters; and, more importantly no national channel association in the lines of Nasscom has
got formed notwithstanding several aborted attempts.
I have had many first hand experience of this symptom. One prominent channel association of a
major metro raised lots of sound over uncalled for Government harassment in the name of Income
Tax raids. An emergency meeting was convened, media was summoned and various suggestions were
mooted including hiring a lawyer, a PR consultant, splashing it in the media and a memorandum to

This is precisely the reason that the channel has never been able o form a Nasscom. I am not saying
that Nasscom is the ultimate example of corporate governance, but at least in the initial days (fissures
are now showing there too) it took up all causes in a single voice. Infosys, Wipro or TCS were and are
even today fierce competitors, but at least on common interest issues they arrive at a common ground.
A lack of even this basic understanding will always throttle the growth of a lobbying power group from
the IT channel. I hope all the partners are listening.

SME SECTOR SUFFERING FROM EXISTENTIAL CRISIS POST DEMONETIZATION & GST: YASHWANT SINHA
In the aftermath of the slowed figure of the countrys GDP post
demonization era and early Goods and Services Tax (GST) phase, the
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the country are suffering
from an unprecedented existential crisis, a Former Minister of Finance
and Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha has said.
Media reports quoted Sinha as saying that the countrys
SME sector is trying to find its way out of the problems that are
surrounding the economy.
Commenting on the implementation of the Goods and Services
Tax (GST), Sinha said that the grey areas in the implementation
cannot be ignored, that have turned into a nightmare for the traders
and businessmen.
He further said that the input tax credit demand under the new
taxation has risen up to 65,000 crore against a collection of 95,000
crores, following which the tax office is in the process of outlining the
enterprises that had made the large claims. Yashwant Sinha, Senior BJP leader
Sinha also highlighted the problem of cash flow that the SME
sector is facing in the recent times because of the piling up of credit.
In line with the concerns raised by some MSMEs earlier that the inspector raj has rose despite new rules, Sinha said that the
raid raj has become the new normal, leading to anxiety in the businesses.
MSME MINISTRY HOLDS TALKS WITH CPSES ON PUBLIC PROCUREMENT

The MSME ministry said it has conducted detailed consultations with public sector enterprises on ways to achieve the target of
mandatory procurement from SC/ST entrepreneurs.
The Public Procurement Policy 2012 stipulates that 4 per cent of the total procurement shall be done by ministries,
departments and Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) from the entities owned by SC/ST.
National SC/ST Hub Conclave was chaired by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Secretary Arun Kumar Panda.
Representatives from about 50 CPSEs from 20 ministries also participated in the conclave.
The interaction aims to bring together leading CPSEs from different sectors and initiate discussion to understand the gaps
and challenges in realising the mandate of public procurement policy, the ministry said in a statement.
The conclave also aimed at developing an understanding of procurement requirements of CPSEs and facilitating them in
vendor development programme.
In order to receive inputs and suggestions from CPSES, an open discussion was organised during the conclave to decide
upon the future course of action, it said.
The key areas of the discussion were - current status of procurement done by CPSEs from MSMEs (including SC/ST units)

AUGUST GST COLLECTIONS DROP AT 55 PERCENT
The government revenue collection from GST for August stood
at `90,669 crore with only 55 percent traders having filed
returns so far.
The total revenue of Goods and Services Tax (GST) paid
under different heads, up to September 25, is `90,669 crore. The
total number of tax payers who were required to file monthly
returns for August is 68.20 lakh, of which, 37.63 lakh GSTR 3B
returns have been filed, Finance Ministry said in a statement.
The last date for payment of GST as well as filing of GSTR 3B
return for the month of August was September 20.
Out of the total GST collection for August, the Central GST
revenue is `14,402 crore, State GST revenue is `21,067 crore,
Integrated GST revenue is `47,377 crore (of which IGST from
imports in August is `23,180 crore) and compensation cess is
`7,823 crore (of which `547 crore is from imports), it said.
The collection figures obviously do not include the GST to be paid by 10.24 lakh assessees who have opted for the
composition scheme.
Additionally, there are still a number of assessees who have not filed their return either for July or August.
The revenue from GST is likely to increase as more taxpayers file returns in due course.
The GST was introduced on 1st of July, 2017.
Many assessees have been filing the returns for July belatedly and till August 31, the total GST paid for July is `94,063 crore,
it said.

assisted tractors and the second one will be
quasi-driverless tractors. The third stage will
be the rollout of complete driverless tractors.

technology that enables a tractor to travel
along a straight line; Auto-headland turn
that enables the tractor to orient itself along

operational in Mumbai by the end of 2017, will spur economic
activity in the country, a top executive from the company said.

which comes at the price of Rs 6499 with shatterproof display
and good design. Surprisingly, the low-budget phone has HD
screen and 3GB RAM, meaning no compromise in terms of
specs but what about the performance, lets find out
Design and Display: The design of Me3s seems very good
at the price point iVoomi selling the device. It features a plastic
body and the back is removable. Interestingly, the company has
antenna bands in U-shape at the top and bottom, which looks
good. It has 2.5D curved glass at the front which protects the
5.2-inch screen.
The navigation buttons are on-screen, though they are not
backlit and can be a problem in the night. The top of the phone
comprises earpiece, selfie camera, and front flash. At the right,
you get the volume controls and power on/off, while the left is
bare. On the top edge, it has a headphone jack and micro USB
port. The rear side of the phones has the primary camera at the
top left corner along with a LED flash, while at the base, you will
find a speaker grille. The back panel is removable and under the
panel, you will find the dual-SIM slot and a dedicated micro SD
