PURPOSE
The purpose of this Method Statement is to describe the system to be taken for achieving the
specified requirements for plastering works.
SCOPE
This Method Statement covers all plastering works that will be carried out.

2.0 SAFETY
2.1 Mushrifs Health, Safety and Environment Manual shall be adhered to at all times.
2.2 All site personnel shall be properly equipped with protective clothing and tools
appropriate for their duties and shall ensure that work area facilities are safe prior and
during the commencement of work activities.
3.0 SUBMITTALS
3.1 Product Data Sheets, Physical Properties and Limitations for Plaster materials.
4.0 PRODUCTS
4.1 Cement shall be Portland Cement, Type I, conforming to the requirements of ASTM C
150.
4.2 Lime shall conform to the requirements of ASTM C207, Type S.
4.3 Fine aggregate shall be natural washed sand, complying with the requirements of BS
882.
4.4 Water shall be clean, fresh, potable and free of mineral or organic matter which can
affect plaster.
4.5 Bonding agent shall be of the type recommended for bonding plaster to concrete
masonry surfaces, conforming to the specific requirements of ASTM C 631.
4.6 Cement Plaster shall be mixed in accordance with the requirements of PCA - Portland
Cement Plaster (Stucco) Manual or ASTM C 926, Type C whichever is required.
Proportioning shall be as mandated by the Specification.

6.1 Plaster shall not be applied when the substrate or ambient temperature is less than 10 oC
nor more than 27oC.
6.2 Maintain minimum ambient temperature of 27oC during installation of plaster and until cured.
7.0 EXECUTION
7.1 Preparation
7.1.1 Verify that all items which are to be enclosed by this work have been permanently
installed, inspected and approved.
7.1.2 Dampen masonry surfaces to reduce excessive suction.
7.1.3 Clean concrete surfaces of foreign matter, rough them and apply bonding agent in
accordance with the Manufacturers Instructions.
7.1.4 Commence installation only when the supporting structures are clean, rough and level.
7.2 Plastering
7.2.1 If more than one coat is required, plaster base coat shall be applied in accordance with
PCA- Portland Cement Plaster (Stucco) Manual and in conformance to the thickness
specified. It shall be left rough in preparation to receive the succeeding coat(s) and shall be
cured by spraying or dampening each day for a minimum period of six (6) days.
7.2.2 Base coat shall be dampen immediately prior to application of the succeeding coat. Next
coat will be applied in conformity to the nominal thickness specified and allow to cure for
a minimum period of 7 to 10 days by spraying or dampening each day with fine mist
spray.
7.2.3 Apply finish coat in accordance with the Manufacturers Instructions, to the nominal
thickness specified and in compliance with the true flatness tolerances required.
7.3 Cleaning
7.3.1 Maintain good housekeeping by cleaning work areas daily and regularly disposing debris and
plaster deposits.
7.3.2 After completion of the work, remove equipment and clean all walls, partitions and floor areas
free from deposits of plaster and other materials installed.
