From the experiment that has been conducted, the concentration of the volatile solid in the

water sample I, II and III are 560 mg/l, 400 mg/l and 5155 mg/l respectively. For concentration of fixed
solid inside the water sample for sample I, II and III are 2810 mg/l, 1895 mg/l and 36220 mg/l
respectively. By referring the Malaysia drinking water quality standard the allowable dissolve solid for
raw water is 1500 mg/l. From the result, the class of water by referring Malaysia water quality
standard is from class V. High amount of VSS and TSS can affect the clarity of the water body. From
this we can conclude that all the water sample need to undergo water treatment process before being
distributed to consumer. Fixed solid is the inorganic particle that contain in water sample. Inorganic
matter is considered as mineral contain in water. We can say that the cloudier the water, the higher
the amount of TSS and VSS. These suspended particles can come from soil erosion, runoff, discharges,
stirred bottom sediments or algal blooms. In terms of water quality, high levels of total suspended
solids will increase water temperatures and decrease dissolved oxygen (DO) levels. When this happen,
living organism inside the water body hard to live and photosynthesis process cannot be done and this
definitely can reduce the water quality. When there are no living organism inside water body, there
are no natural cleaning agent for the water and more cost are needed to treat the water before being
distribute to consumer.
