ABSTRACT
Insomnia is the most common sleep disorder. Insomnia can occur at any
age, but is also found at the age of 60 years and over. Insomnia can have an
impact on the physical health of one of them hypertension. Patients with insomnia
who sleep less than 5 hours a night have a 5 times greater risk of suffering from
hypertension than sleeping in sufficient time. The purpose of this study to
determine the relationship between insomnia with hypertension in elderly at Panti
Jompo Darussa'adah subdistrict of Lhokseumawe. This was a study cross
sectional analytic study based on total sampling. The total samples was 48 people
whom meet the inclusion and exclusion. Univariate analysis and bivariate
employed as data analysis method. The results showed that most of the positive
elderly experienced insomnia (57.8%) and negative (42.2%). The hypertension in
elderly people are hypertension (62,2%) and hypotension (37,8%). There was an
association between insomnia and hypertension in the elderly at the
Lhokseumawe City Nursing Home (p = 0.005).
