Close-up with Richard A. Serra

Founder, President & CEO of Allpro Parking
We had the pleasure of sitting down for lunch with Richard Serra, Founder,
President and CEO of Allpro Parking to ask him how it all got started.

I never thought I would be here today, he starts the conversation. Richard

was born in Boston. He started in the parking industry at the same time as he
was attending junior college for communication and media services. He needed
a job and saw an ad in the paper for a part-time position as a parking
attendant. He applied and was hired. In 1974, after graduating, he transitioned
into parking full-time with Allright Parking. Rick remembers, It was a great job!
I was excited to get started and the long hours were actually fun and lled with
experience. His dedication paid off, and soon he was offered to take on a
management position. He moved around for a couple of years, lling in where
the company needed help.

I went to Philadelphia and set up our operations, two garages and two lots, by

the airport. Eventually Richard got an opportunity to go to Atlantic City where
he spent ve years as the General Manager. He says: Those were valuable
times because I got to know the industry inside and out. 2000

It was Allright Parking that moved him to Buffalo 33 years ago. Richard shares

2001
his initial impression: The feeling of the city was great, I saw it as a
progressive, up and coming city. He worked with Allright in Buffalo until 2000,
the year before the company was sold off to Central Parking. The original
owners of Allright Parking were very down to earth, I loved that culture. All the Allpro Parking has 7 locations

other owners that came in after that expected other ways of operating and
there was no closeness within the company anymore. I did not like that at all.
It was this same year when a client and friend of his, Paul F. Ciminelli, asked why
he didnt start his own business. He was a local developer, and they became Allpro Parking
partners. Together they opened up Allpro Parking and the company has been expands into Rochester

We sat down with Daniel Lassiter, who has three decades
of experience within the parking and hospitality
management industry, to learn about his experiences and
success. He stated: Parking is no easy task, it takes time to
develop relationships to communicate the value of our
services. We have no tangible product that customers can
see, touch, and test out before deciding to buy. We are a
service rm. He continues: Our best advocates are our
employees. They represent the Allpro Parking brand. That
is why we place emphasis on customer service through our
C.A.R.E.S. program.

Daniel has held management positions in markets such as

Nashville, TN; Louisville, KY; Columbus, OH; Charlotte, NC;
Washington, DC; Baltimore, MD and Chicago, IL. His
experience is a valuable asset in understanding clients and
customers true needs and expectations.

He reminds us all it is important that we all speak in one
