Running head: PATIENT SAFETY 1

Patient Safety

Definitely, Sara I agree with your post that Patient Safety has challenged our Nurses

Standards, and not only referring to direct care at hospital level. The fact that provide nursing

quality care required a leadership in learning from past errors how to prevent this is related will

improving the quality of care, reducing medication errors, cost effective is the intended outcome.

According the (IOM) report that you describe effectively and in which Nursing has a

mayor challenge of participation in this improvement.

Addressing appropriately specific topics as: Avoiding patient injuries in the delivery of

care, provide individualized compassionate care. Nurses may deliver their interventions

effectively when they will be able to work with the system referring patients at different levels of

complexity of the Health System. (Yoder-Wise, 102014, p. 119).

I trying to explain that nurses be able to access important information related to the

reason of admission. I think the cost of hospitalizations may be reduced. If the level of care

where the problem started is in relationship with patient center care safety at their communities. I

am aware that the complexity - cost of diagnostic and treatments increased as the levels of Health

System advance even thought, all the levels, (preventive, curative, rehabilitative) wanted to

articulate to achieve the same goal that is provide safety patient care. Patient safety is in jeopardy

because in many cases the reach for health care needs is when the problem became unbearable,

resulting in hospitalization. Sara, I am truly believer that technology can contribute to aim the

disconnection or limited health access of care; for example, videoconferencing, instead to wait

for an appointment set in two weeks because the person is a new patient in a local general

practitioner. This seems no a safety option but not choice seeking health care in this days.
Nursing advocacy coordinating, prioritizing appointments, prescriptions, follow up care, being

respectful of patient rights, providing opportune explanations, cultural awareness to avoid pre-

concepts of their health problems bases in socio-economic, gender, or geographic area will

benefit the value of quality.
