Dear Sefians

ASCE7-05 calls for Amplification of Accidental Torsional moment (cl.12.8.4.3). Can any one please
let me know how to apply this on ETABS model ? I attached the relevant codal provision herewith.

Joined: 19 Aug 2008 I am designing a Substation building in UAE and the Design approving authority asked for

It may be possbile in ETABS if you define diaphram for each level.

run with 5% eccentricity (acc. torsion as in 12.8.4.2).check the deformed model for dispacements
delta max and delta ave for all levels as per 12.8.4.3.

calculate Ax for each level.

calculate acc. eccentricity 5% of building width (0.05B) and multiply with Ax for each level.

Opt for overwrite eccentricities OPTION.enter absolute value for each level.

follow for same in other Y-direction.please let me know if it worked.
