SEM 1
1-I

Three topics that struck me the most are:

King Solomon
Joseph the Dreamer
Jonah

Application in real life/reflection:

Joseph the Dreamer

The life of Joseph was one hell of an experience done from a brother. A family should have
one body, one heart, and one mind. It is where we draw our strength and courage to face whatever
life has for us. It is the place where we should run to when things get awful. It is where the members
of a family listen to each and accept each other no matter what. But who do we run to when they
themselves turn their backs on you? My family never turned their back on me, thats why I feel so
blessed to have never experienced what happened to Joseph. I am from Cagayan de Oro City and
I came here to study for college and to enter to law school. It is never easy to be separated from
your family. There be times when I long for their loving arms, hear their voices, to have adult
conversations and I mean more. It is a good thing that since I moved here, the family where I am
staying loves me and treats me as one of their own. Unlike Joseph, when he was maltreated and
experienced terrible things when he arrived at the place of King Pharaoh, Im lucky I didnt get to
experience that. One thing I realized from the life of Joseph is that, a family is not perfect, It MAY
be challenged, be shaken or worse, be broken. Such things happen because of our individual
differences, lack of respect, lack of relatedness and companionship. It is where a family member
exercises his/her own superiority among others that shakes the familys foundation, it is where a
negative preconceived idea towards a family member that challenges ones relationship to the
other, it is where lack of respect in all aspects that destroys a family. In the end, we always find
ourselves coming back to them or vice versa. It is where I realized from the life of Joseph to forgive
our own, not for their own good but for our own self. It is the love of God that connects us to
others, especially to our family. If the love of God is not within a family, then it will be broken
and separated to the point of getting lost. To my future family, I will always ask God for
discernment, guidance and wisdom, that I be, a good father someday. A father who loves his
family, who listens to them, and a father who will accept them no matter what happens.

King Solomon

The story of King Solomon really amazed me. When God spoke to him and asked him
what is it that he wants/wishes, he asked nothing for his own benefit but only wisdom to guide his
people. It is where I realized that God loves us so much that he will give us whatever thats for our
own advantage even if we dont ask for it. However, when we are at height of our success and
happiness, we tend to forget and say thank you the person who let us experience such things in the
first place, and that person is God. The first lesson that I will apply to myself, every day of my life,
is humility. Whatever path I walk, wherever this path takes me, I will stay humble and always
remember that, it is because of God why I get to experience and become somebody in the future.
I owe everything to Him, and for that I will glorify Him in whatever I do. Second, to unceasingly
pray. It is through prayer that we connect to God, it is in prayer that were able to talk to Him, ask
for forgiveness for the times we fail to do the right thing.

Jonah

The life of Jonah is what I consider common to all of us. When we are tasked or instructed
to do something, we do the otherwise. It is the reason why we get lost. The reason for our misery,
hardships, and troubles that we tend to blame others for it. The question in the report was that, Is
there some area of your life in which you are defying God, and rationalizing it? Personally, I
dont know if theres any, because I wouldnt know how I was being instructed by God. But, I
realized the times when I defied my family and my loved ones which I believe that I have defied
God. It is where I was lost, where I was de-railed. Thereafter, God found me because I repented
and believed, which I always do. Our family would always want whats best for us with the purest
intention. Same thing with God, as He promised us that he has plans to each one of us, plans to
prosper us and not to harm us but every time we choose our own decisions without His guidance,
we will always be lost. But even if were lost, that does not make the love of God less for us, we
must only repent and believe that we will always be found. For I always have faith in humanity,
even if a person does something bad to others, I know people can change because there is goodness
in which one of us. Criminals are humans like us and if rehabilitated and guided properly instead
of neglecting them, they will change for the better. In the end, we must have faith in God, and it is
the faith that is the substance of things hoped for.

Evaluation towards our professor

For every stressful, exhausting, tiring week from our law subjects, it is in SEM1 where I
always find comfort and peace because of Dom Pedro and the lessons the he imparts to us. He
never failed to amaze me each time I attend to his class. It is where I was able to experience to be
a kid again. When I was a little, I was able to attend on a Sunday school and bible teachings. I was
also able to play games regarding the bible and SEM1 brought it back. In addition, SEM1 gives
me strength, courage and determination which Dom Pedro would also remind us. The pain that
were feeling right now, will be worth it in the end. I would like to thank Dom Pedro for everything,
for making things light and for drawing us near to God.

Jeremiah 29:11, for I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper
you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. I will always have faith in Him
Thank you, Dom Pedro!
