Alexis A. Avgoustis

Alexis Avgoustis was born in Nicosia, Cyprus on September 13, 1972. After completing
the science section of the Lyceum with High Honors, he joined the Civil Engineering
program of the Higher Technical Institute (H.T.I) in Nicosia, Cyprus. Upon completion
of his studies at the H.T.I in June 1993 he worked in both the private and the
governmental sector in Cyprus as a Civil Technician Engineer. In January 1995 he joined
the University of Maine at Orono, where he graduated with a Bachelors in Civil
Engineering in December 1996.

In August 1997, he joined the Department of Civil Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic

Institute & State University, to pursue a Masters degree with a specialization in
Transportation Engineering. He worked as a Research Assistant at the Center for
Transportation Research (CTR) at Virginia Tech. He is a member of the American
Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), the
Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) and a full member of the
Council of Civil Engineers in Cyprus.

He is expected to join the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) in

Denver, Colorado to work as a Transportation Engineer/Planner.
