What is Solar Energy?
-Solar is a renewable, inexhaustible energy source.

-Solar is made by consuming energy from the sun and transforming it into
useable electricity. The photovoltaic cells in solar panels absorb the suns rays
and and convert it into direct current electricity by exciting electrons in silicon
cells using the photons of light from the sun.

Infrastructure & Advancements in Technology
-Infrastructure requirements for solar energy include solar panels themselves
and, for non-domestic applications, transmission lines to transport the energy
where it needs to go. Solar farms are also best organized in deserts and drier
areas, for maximum efficiency and some protection from rain and storms.

-New technologies created by scientists like James Temple help make solar
panels and, by extension, solar energy as a whole, more efficient and
cost-effective. Last year, Temple broke the record of solar cell efficiency. This
was accomplished by utilizing cadmium telluride in the cells rather than the
conventional silicon.
