S5 FRSW
1
The physical topology shown in Figure 2-1 contains all equipment on the purchase list.
The switch S5 and the frame relay switch (FRSW) are mandatory in all types of lab; however they need not
be configured as part of the training lab.
Generally, the FRSW is configured with two 8-interface ASE modules ("8ASE") and also functions as the
console server. It connects to the console port of other equipment using console cables. Figure 2-1 does not
show the connection of the console cables. For details about the connection, see6 Console Server
Configuration.
3 Equipment Purchasing
You must purchase the equipment based on the lab requirements. If you have any doubt, send email
to learning@huawei.com. The equipment purchase list, named HCNA-HNTDEquipmentListforv2.2 is
attached as part of11Appendices.
4 Module Installation
The router and console server are modular equipment and you need to install them manually.
The stacking cables of switches are not required in the lab and so do not need to be installed. If the cables
are required, the learning materials will provide relevant guidance.
In addition, this section describes only the installation position of the equipment modules, rather than the
installation process and method. For details about how to install the modules, see the ARG3 Installation
Guide found in 11Appendices.
To ensure that the equipment interface names are consistent with the names in the lab guide and all labs can
be carried out properly and successfully, the modules of the router must be installed based on the following
requirements.
Routers R1, R2, R3, and the FRSW are all AR G3 2220E products. The following figure shows the front
panel of the AR G3 2220E equipment.
The following figure shows the rear panel of the AR G3 2220E equipment.
The modules are installed on the rear panel based on the slot number.

5 Cable Connection
The equipment must be connected based on the topology shown in Figure 2-1.
The serial cables have two connectors, the DCE connector and the DTE connector. Connect the DCE
connector of the serial cable to the FRSW when using serial to connect the FRSW and routers R1, R2,
and R3. In addition, connect the DCE connector of the serial cable to router R1 when connecting R1 and
R2, and the DCE connector to router R3 when connecting R2 and R3.
Ensure that the correct models are used for the different types of equipment based on the mapping
provided inTable 5-1.

Check whether the ports are connected correctly based onTable 5-2.

3. Configure the IP address for the console server to connect to the actual network.
Connect one Ethernet interface of the console server to the actual network, and configure the IP address
and default gateway (default routing) based on the network requirements.
4. Connect the console server to the controlled equipment by using the contra-Telnet.
Start the Telnet client on a PC, and log in to the router with a specified interface number, in order to set
up a connection with the peer equipment using the asynchronous interface.

7 FR Switch Configuration
The lab also includes a Frame Relay Switch (FRSW). Students however are not required to learn the
configuration of the FRSW. If you need to configure the FRSW, run the following commands:

The FRSW is incorporated into the console server, but the data of the FRSW and the console server is processed
independently.
10
Importantly, an Ethernet cable must be attached to the FRSW and looped between interfaces Gigabit Ethernet 0/0/0 and
Gigabit Ethernet 0/0/1 in order for this configuration to be successful.
10 Precautions
After the instructor conducts training of the learning materials, the students are expected toindependently
carry out and complete the steps listed in the HCNA Lab Guide. If any fault occurs, the students should
ask for troubleshooting support from the instructor.
In the experiment, in order to avoid the influence of residual configuration on the experiment, after the
completion of the experiment, students should delete the equipment configuration information before
closing the equipment; at the same time, at the beginning of the experiment, confirm the equipment from
the empty configuration, or perform configuration empty, and restart the equipment.
