MATERIALS AND METHODS

This is the chapter where the materials and methods used in this research are being

discuss. This includes the description of software applications used in designing, editing, and

developing the system and the hardware specifications of the system or unit used in

documentation and overall development of the system.

Also the methodology used in the development of software and its phases are discussed

in this chapter.

Materials

The developers uses various materials for the enhancement and development of online

sensitivity and guide tutorial for kids & teens. In documenting thesis documents the materials

being used are Samsung laptop with a Windows 7 Ultimate Operating System that has system

architecture of 64-bit, 3GB RAM and an Intel Core i3-2310M CPU @ 2.10GHz 2.10 GHz

processor, Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013, Firefox Developers Edition version 54.0a2

to read and view downloaded PDF files, Snipping tool for capturing the image within the web

and Microsoft Paint for resizing images.

For the development of the system, developers used PHP version 5.6.30 as the server side

scripting language, XAMPP for the local web server of the system, PHPMyAdmin for the

administration of MySQL database and Adobe Photoshop CS6 for the design and editing tool.
Methodology

The developers used the Cavite State University Software Development Methodology

because it is easy to start project software methodology. Cavite State University Software

Development Methodology is a methodology that is hybrid, it supports the objectives of the

client needs and existing resources. Hybrid methodology is the combination of two different

methodologies to produce a better model. Also this methodology is fit for additional computerize

functions that link in an already stable system, it is iterative and systematic.

Analyze/Planning Phase

In this phase the developers analyze which tools to be used for the development of the system

and conduct an interview to gathered data from their client including the client background.
Breakdown Priority Project

This is the level where the developers choose an appropriate tools for coding, designing

and documenting. They also identify the skills needed in developing the system and the modules

and sub modules of the system.

Design Module

In this phase the developers prepared broken down modules for coding and design the

modules to determine whether it contains sub modules. Also they ask the client about the

interface design of the system to determine what kind of design the client wants.

Code Test/Debug

In this phase testing and debugging are done simultaneously. The developers perform the

testing while debugging in order to locate errors. All the data that are available will be used like a

dummy database that contains actual data.

Integration of sub procedures

After the coding phase the integration of modules will be perform by the developers to

ensure the integrity of the developed module. They bring together component sub- system into

one system and make sure that sub systems function together as a system.

Test/Implementation

In this phase the developers ensures that the plan and objectives complete and clear before

they put the formulated plan into an action. Once the developers implement the system they will
be observed within 1 week from the day of implementation, finalizing all the diagrams, and get

feedback from users are all done in this phase.

Breakdown of respondents

The breakdown of the respondent was based on purposive assembled sample has the

same proportion of individual as the entire population with respect to known characteristic, traits

or focused phenomenon. The numbers of respondent are 50 random users and all 10 are teachers

of daycare center and parents, shown in Table 4 below.

CLASSIFICATION FREQUENCY PERCENTAGE (%)

TEACHERS 4 8
PARENTS 6 12

KIDS & TEENS 40 20

TOTAL 50 100%

Sampling Technique

The researchers used purposive sampling as sampling technique in which samples

were chosen based on the purpose of the research work.

Statistical Treatment

After the researchers manual tabulation of data, the following statistical tools were used:
1. Percentage this is used in tabulation, presentation, and interpretation to different

respondents in the proposed study.

Formula:
f
= N x 100%

where,

P = percentage

f = frequency

N = total number of respondents

2. Weighted Mean this is used to determine the total evaluation of the proposed system in

accordance to the ISO 9126 standard.

Formula:
= 1 1

where,
= mean

X = frequency

W= weight
N = no. of respondents

3. Likert Scale The data will be interpreted by using the five-level Likert Scale Method,

as the criterion, which serves as the basis for the interpretation of the data.
Table3.Likert Scale.

OPTION EQUIVALENT VERBAL SYMBOL

INTERPRETATION
5 4.20-5.00 Excellent (E)
4 3.40-4.19 Very Satisfactory (VS)

3 2.60-3.39 Satisfactory (S)

2 1.80-2.59 Fair (F)

1 1-1.79 Poor (P)
