How about the definition of a limit (the French version, no less!

) to make your day

--

Let f(x) be a function R^n -> R^m. f(x) has a limit of a at x if for every epsilon
greater than zero there exists some positive delta such that, when |v - x| < delta,
then |f(v) - f(a)| < epsilon.

Let's prove that the limit as x -> 0 of f(x) = x^2 is zero.

Choose and arbitrary epsilon. Now let delta be sqrt(epsilon). Since |v| <
sqrt(epsilon), |v|^2 = |v^2| < epsilon, which is what we set out to prove. QED.
