LESSON PLAN IN EVENTS MANAGEMENT NCIII

DATE: November 5, 2017


I. OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT STANDARD

The learners demonstrate an understanding of the principles and techniques


required in selecting particular event venue or site.

B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD

The learners independently select an event venue or site based on the standard
industry procedure.

C. LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:


identify each of the various aspects being considered in selecting a site as an
event venue through the given pictures;
state the importance of conducting ocular visitation and site inspection by relating
it to real-life applications; and
create their own site inspection checklist and accomplishing at least 80% of the
procedures in venue selection.

FOUR PICS, ONE ASPECT
(Collaborative Thinking Activity for the Whole Class)

1. Introduce the meaning of environmental scanning, site selection and ocular


visitation by asking the students to read aloud each definitions.
2. Have the students understand that once you conduct ocular visitations, there
are various aspects needed to be considered in the assessment of the site or
venue.
3. Given sets of four pictures with each depicting an aspect of site inspection,
have the students analyze and identify each of the aspects being shown.
4. After guessing each pictures, ask the students to expound the related criteria
in assessing a particular aspect.
C. ESTABLISHING A PURPOSE FOR THE LESSON 5 minutes

Have the students read aloud the objectives for the lesson.

D. PRESENTING EXAMPLES OR INSTANCES OF THE NEW LESSON 5 minutes


Present a blank template of a checklist containing the various aspects of site
inspection. Explain how the checklist works.

E. DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPTS AND PRACTICING NEW SKILLS 15 minutes


CREATE YOUR OWN CHECKLIST
(Individualized Written Activity)

1. Give the students a blank table for site inspection checklist. (see Appendix A)
2. Ask the students to fill in the necessary information with their checklist.
3. Once the students are done with their checklist, they can proceed with the
next activity.

F. FINDING PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF CONCEPTS 10 minutes


AND SKILLS IN DAILY LIVING
SITE SELECTION USING SITE INSPECTION CHECKLIST
(Individualized Performance-based Activity)

1. Present three sets of pictures for venue showing various aspects of each site.
2. In their checklist, have the students fill in the event section where they are
free to write any event of their choice.
3. After identifying the event, have the students perform the assessment of site
using the given pictures and the criteria that they have identified with their
checklist.

G. MAKING GENERALIZATIONS & ABSTRACTIONS ABOUT THE LESSON 5 min

Ask the students the following questions after accomplishing the checklist:
1. Does the result of your checklist agree with the type of event you identified?
2. How does the checklist help an event manager in selecting a site or venue for
an event?
3. What is/are the advantage/s of using a checklist when conducting an ocular
visitation?

H. DEVELOPING MASTERY 5 minutes


1. Conduct a short review oral recitation with regards to the aspects of site
inspection through the question and answer approach.

Have the students answer the formative assessment. (see Appendix B)

J. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR APPLICATION OR REMEDIATION

Search on the internet an example of a site inspection checklist for an event. Print
out a copy and paste it on your notebook.

VI. REFLECTION
Game as an introduction to a topic was also found out to be very effective as well.
Students tend to understand easy and well if they are enjoying the lesson. Learning at
the same time enjoying is effective because a happy class is a learning class.
