Subject: MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY Grade: 12 Semester: 1st
Competency: searches latest theory on information and media (MIL11/12EMIL-IIIb-7)
I. Objective/s
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. Explain Internet of Things (IoT)
b. Cite advantages and disadvantages of IoT
II. Contents
a. Topic: The Evolution of Traditional to New Media
b. References: Media and Information Literacy Teaching Guide for Senior High School, pp.
Media and Information Literacy Curriculum Guide for Senior High School, pp.
c. Materials: presentation of the lesson; videos explaining Internet of Things and how it
may work
III. Procedure
A. Opening It Up
1. Prayer
Have somebody from the class to lead a prayer.
2. Checking of Attendance
Ask the class secretary to report on the attendance
3. Review
Have the students look back at the past discussion by asking them the ff.:
What can a teenager like you do to fight against the harm of certain media?
4. Presentation of Lesson Objective
5. Motivation
Hook the students with a video of Internet of Things being used in the field of
emergency response and life saving in Japan. Say: How is it important for a country
like Japan to be responsive in emergency situations especially ones involving natural
disasters?
B. Presentation of the Lesson
Present a video explaining what internet of things is and how internet of things works.
Have them jot down significant information discussed in the videos.
Have some to reiterate these information to the class.
Simulation
The goal of the class is to show how Internet of Things may have impact to the
community as a whole. Each group will be assigned as a particular siloh of information.
Have each group determine important information about another set of information
coming from another siloh to produce a webbed and hemless environment for
information dissemination.
Situation: A mother is preparing for her son s birthday party.
G1: Her options for a birthday package and its payment
G2: Outsourcing materials needed for the chosen party package
G3: Preparation of materials needed for the party
G4: Delivery of materials for the party and setting it up
IV. Generalization
How does internet of things help in the free flow of information in a digital world?
V. Evaluation
What make/s internet of things become an easily bought idea to boost information
dissemination
VI. Agreement:
Have the students look for the disadvantages of IoT.
VII. Remarks/Reflection
Students were able to share very well the promises of IoT in a specific situation. Group tasks
were well attended to with outstanding level of performance.
