EXPORT CONTROLLED - SERVICE BULLETIN i) Rolls-Royce AIR - COMPRESSOR VARIABLE GEOMETRY INSPECTION USING THE TURNBUCKLE LENGTH 1. PLANNING INFORMATION A. Effectivity (1) Engines ‘AE 3007C and AE 3007C1 engines with serial numbers: CAE330360 thru CAE330388, CAE330390 thru CAE330391, CAE330393 thru CAE330394, CAE330396 thru CAE330408 and CAES30411, NOTE: The engine serial numbers above are basad on current production records and should be used for planning purposes only. (2) Spares - Affected B. Reason ‘The gauge used to set the angles for each stage of the compressor variable geometry (CVG) system can be mis-read, causing a setting angle error of ten degrees on any CVG stage. ©. Description This service bulletin gives you the procedure to inspect the setting of each CVG stage, using a ‘measurement of the tumbuckle length for acceptance criteria. This service bulletin al you further instructions to measure the angles of the CVG actuation system. And if necessary, replace the 1st-stage compressor blades. D. Approval Technical aspects are FAA approved. E. Manpower (1) In Service engine ‘Approximately 3.0 man-hours are necessary to measure the length of the tumbuckies for the left-hand engine. Approximately 12.0 man-hours are necessary to measure the length of the tumbuckles for the right-hand engine. (2) Un-installed engine (@) Approximately 2.0 man-hours are necessary to measure the length of the tumbuckies Required labor will be reimbursed by Rolls-Royce when accomplished for eligible engines under the stated effectivity and compliance and performed at a Rolls-Royce authorized maintenance facility. F. Compliance Recommended. You should do this service bulletin within 500 hours after you receive it.
