THEME/TOPIC PEOPLE / MY HERO
OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

a) show understanding of at least 10 words by completing a blank filling


exercise.

STARTER 1. Students watch a trailer from the movie The Avengers


(5mins) 2. Students orally state words that come to their mind.
3. Teacher writes down the words using a circle map

PRESENTATION 1. Students are given a text with 20 words in bold.


(10mins) 2. Students watch and listen as teacher reads the passage and shows the images
of the words on the board.

PRACTICE 1. Students work in pairs to match the words with their images.
(10mins) 2. Students then match the words with meanings given.

PRODUCTION 1. Students work in groups of four and produce a semantic mapping of 5 words
(20mins) given by the teacher. (meaning, picture, synonym, sentence etc)
2. Carousel feedback activity.
3. Students give feedback. ( Two stars and a wish)

PLENARY 1. Students complete a worksheet


(15 mins) 2. Popcorn activity to recap.

vocabulary.

STARTER 1. Students watch a trailer from the movie The Avengers


(5mins) 2. Students orally state words that come to their mind.
3. Teacher writes down the words using a circle map

PRESENTATION 1. Students are given a text with 20 words in bold. ( These words were given in
(10mins) the previous lesson and students had identified which they know/dont know)
2. Students watch, listen and imitate/mime as teacher reads the passage and
mimes the actions.

PRACTICE 1. Students are given cards with meanings. Students carry out quiz quiz trade
(10mins) activity. They return to their places and write down the words they have learnt
and the meanings.

PRODUCTION 1. Students work in groups of four (mixed ability groups) and produce a
(20mins) semantic mapping of at least 5 words they have learnt. (meaning, picture,
synonym, sentence etc)
2. Carousel feedback activity.
3. Students give feedback. ( Two stars and a wish)

PLENARY 1. Students complete a worksheet
