Strengths of the lesson:

- Ahlam is extremely energetic and enthusiastic from the get go (from the very start of
the lesson)!

- She has an excellent demeanor: always smiling but completely in control of the class

- She is consistently reinforcing class rules, making expectations very clear to her
students

- Ahlam gives clear instructions and MODELS what students will be doing with the
playdough she has distributed. Ahlam is very conscience of ensuring that ALL
students understand the task (Munira, come closer so you can see what to do).
Great!

- Ahlam is very supportive of students. She is intuitive as far as strategies utilized to


deal with different students and different situations.

- Ahlam has developed excellent relationships with her students! It is very apparent
that she enjoys working with young children; it is also very apparent that the children
love working with her!

- All students all focused on the tasks and remain engaged during the entire segment

- Throughout the lesson, Ahlam helps students achieve the learning outcomes: she
does this enthusiastically and strategically (she asks a lot of questions, for instances,
to help students discover what they should be doing).
- Ahlam manages behavior very well by resorting to various strategies (even Khalifa,
who is a bit difficult, is well managed). Time is equally very well managed.

- Ahlam can be very firm at times: she raises her voice, and changes her tone and her
body language when necessary. Excellent!
When she doesnt have everyones attention, she STOPS and firmly asks for it! Very
impressive for a semester 1 student!

- Ahlam has students repeating a lot (both individually and as a class). She uses this as
a learning strategy but also to verify students understanding.

- Her activities are suitable (age appropriate) and varied.

Areas for development:

- Several grammar errors were heard during the lesson. For example:
. Who want to play with me? (should say Who wants to play with me?)
. What this one? (should say Whats this one? or What is this one?)

Although Ahlams spoken English is good, and she is very confident using it in front
of the class, she should aim for perfection as she will become an English medium
teacher after all.

Overall comments:

- Ahlams MST had only very positive and wonderful things to say about Ahlams
dedication to this TP experience. We both agree that she is a natural, and with
practice and experience will become a truly excellent teacher!!
