JOB SUMMARY

The job holder will be responsible for the successful implementation of the ECHO funded
Integrated Multi-Sectorial Approach to Improve the Resilience of Vulnerable Communities in
Wag Himira Zone of Sekota and Ziquala Woreda, Health and Nutrition project activities.
This position holder closely works with zonal health department, woreda health offices,
PHCUs and Health Development Armies (HDAs). The Health and Nutrition officer will also
support partner and stakeholder activities and ensure proper project implementation in a
timely fashion.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Prepare DIP of the project Health & Nutrition component with integration of responsible
woreda officials & review it in a timely manner.
Support of RESET II Manager in the preparation of phased budget of the Health & Nutrition
component of the project.
Facilitates & organizes all trainings, training venue, materials and kits for each trainings.
Identifies all trainers and trainees with Zonal & each woredas responsible health offices staff.
Works closely with the ZHD and District Health Office to ensure training is conducted on
time and with acceptable standards
Conducts follow up after training with HEW supervisors and District focal person.
Produces reports of training, supervision, best practices and others
Participates in review meetings, quarter supervisions and program monitoring
Facilitates Zonal level field office travel to project site for on-job training, monitoring &
supportive supervision activities.
Facilitates Woreda level government staff travel to primary health care sites & housholds for
on-job training & supportive supervision
Identify the need to fill the gap of essential drugs and medical supplies and ensure their
procurement and distributions
Facilitate & ensure the procurement and distribution of CMAM / HMIS & Surveillance tools
Ensure payment to parent or care taker of SAM children while staying in the stabilization
centres
Support Zonal/Woreda health office to conduct quarterly joint integrated supportive
supervision to project sites
Conduct bi-annual review meetings at Zonal level to see progress, identify gaps &
recommend action points
Facilitate the provision of logistic support during national measles campaigns
Lead & participate in baseline and end line health and nutrition surveys in three Woredas
Ensures mass awarenes (health & nutrition education) activities via HAD & HEW on H & N
service delivery sites
Ensure the implementation of SMART survey in one randomly sampled Woreda
Facilitate the procurement and distribute cooking utensils and food supplies to carry out
cooking demonstration of CF
Ensure the establishment of IYCF breastfeeding corner, M2MSG on skilled breastfeeding
techniques
Facilitates the duplication of IEC materials, job aids, family health cards etc & use of media
and communication on key IYCF messages
Facilitates the link of HEWs with HDAs.
Ensures community mobilization and sensitization through HDAs.
Upholds the image and values of SCI at all times,
Performs other related tasks as required or requested by immediate supervisor.
Prepares reports regularly and submits to RESET II Manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

BA in Nursing or Public Health (Senior Clinical/Public Nurse or above).


Minimum three years working experience with NGOs on Health & Nutrition program.
Good command in written and spoken English.
Good human relation skills.
Respect of Save the Children core values and rules.
Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours.
