Purpose
The purpose of this problem is to compute the value of electric field and of
electric potential for points around and inside three capacitors and to see their
interaction (influence).
The problem proposed is solved in QuickField.
The problem:
Consider the following figure:
Starting values:
- a square surface of radius 20
cm, with the relative
permeability =1
- the plates of C1 are 10 cm
long, q1=+5 C respectively
q1=-5 C
- the plates of C2 are 4cm in
length, half inside the C1
capacitor and half outside.
The charge q2= +-4 C
- the plates of C3 are 4cm in
length, half inside the C1
capacitor and half outside.
The charge q2= +-3 C
Permittivity test
Situation2: The permittivity of the positive dielectric is 20, twice as big as the
permittivity of negative dielectric. The influence of the second dielectric is
bigger.
Mesh test
a) Test1
The spacing is 4.5
The result is that we obtain a mesh with 54 nodes
b) Test2
The spacing is 2.2
The result is that we obtain a mesh with 125 nodes
c) Test3
The spacing is 1.5
The result is that we obtain a mesh with 224 nodes
The most accurate measurements are done using the finest mesh
