Task Title: Numbers Lesson Reflection

Numbers Lesson Reflection

Select (S):
The lesson I taught today was about numbers counting from 1 to 10. I expected some students to be able
to count at least till 10, one students came to me when we finished the lesson and she said Teacher Jawaher
I can count till 1000 so I wanted to hear her counting and she was able to reach till 300 in English and then
she stopped because she got tired counting, so I asked her to continue after me and I start telling her random
numbers and she must say the number that come after, she was able to say some but it was a little difficult
for her. By the end of my lesson the students were able identify and recognize numbers, count from 1 to 10,
some did count above 10, count groups of up to 10 objects using one-to- one correspondence, they count to
answer how many, and they were able to identify the number that is one more than a given number up to
10.

Describe (D):
The lesson was for 4-5 years old students in KG2 & it take place in Al Darari Kindergarten. I tried to let the
students count till 10 and be able to understand the meaning of numbers, counting, and what can we use
them for. Students did color, trace, and write numbers, they also did the one more than worksheet were I
gave them random numbers and they have to write the number that comes after it.

Analyze (A):
Students was able to understand the lesson easily since I represent counting using my fingers and objects
they were able to understand the meaning of the numbers I was saying. Students was able to connect between
the Arabic and the English numbers. Students were mostly engaged when I let them count the objects, they
were getting excited about telling the right answer before the finish counting.

Appraise (A):
Students have a gist of understanding the whole meaning of the concept by just understanding few words,
they made sense from the things they didnt understand. With encouraging the students they will be transfer
their gist of understanding the whole meaning to interpret meaning in English in easier way. By the end of
the lesson I was able to meet my teaching goals and some students went beyond my expectations.

Transform (T):
I would keep my lesson the same if I teach the same concept in the future, because it was very simple for
students whos learning native language, but if I had the chance to teach this lesson in school were English
is the first language that the students speak, I would make it harder and would let them count till 20, it
depends on the students also. When some students were moving around I stopped talking and I kept looking
at them till they realized that they were misbehaving and distracting others, so they sit back nicely.
