Documentary Script for London Colours
TIMING NARRATION
London a multicultural city of ethnic
diversity.
In this Short documentary, we will be
exploring the variety of ethnicities that
make up the melting pot of one of Europes
largest cities.
Through the experiences of different
London citizens, we will be learning about
the characteristics of these ethnic groups
and how they express their cultural identity
through their daily lives.
In 2001, the percentage of white British
citizens was 58% has now dropped to 45%.
Here in the district of Wapping we met
Harry and spent the day with him.

Even though the White British make up less
than 50% it is still the largest ethnic group
in the city.
Most Polish migrants arrived in the UK
after the 2004 enlargement of the
European Union. There are almost a
million Polish nationals living in Britain.
Wicktor comes from a Polish immigrant
family and we found more about his
cultural background

The Bangladeshi ethnic group first
emigrated to London in the 1970s due to
changes in Immigration laws in the UK.
Today they make up 2.3% of Londons
overall population. They are heavily
concentrated in eastern areas of London
such as the Tower Hamlets. We met with
Akilah to observe the culture of the
Bangladeshi community.
Jamaicans first arrived in the UK in the
1970s. The number populate a number of
just over 160,000 residents in the city of
London. They are concentrated in the
boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark and
Lewisham. We met Sharell, one of the
residents of Lambeth.
Turks first began to emigrate in large
numbers from the island of Cyprus
