Lesson idea implementation:

This lesson will focus on the three branches of government and will last a few days.
First, the students will watch the BrainPop video listed above which focuses on the three branches. While
watching, they will be asked to list three things that they found interesting from this video for engagement.
After the video is finished, they will share their interesting observations and come together for a discussion in
relation to the branches of government for participation. The students will then have free time to play the
games related to the BrainPop video to get more experience with this lesson. They must complete 2 of the
games about the three branches of government, and must reach an 80% before continuing to the next
assignment. BrainPop will monitor their progress and their performance of these games.
After this, they will be grouped into three groups based on the judicial, legislative and executive branches.
They will be given a project that includes a particular topic that is under review. They must work together to
determine the process that this case must go through, and the appropriate ways to go this case. They will go
through each step as if it was going through each branch of government. The students will conclusively write
or discuss their results for a grade on accuracy and understanding of the topic. The teacher will be a facilitator
and guide the students if they need assistance. The teacher will be apart of the discussion giving rhetorical
questions or discussion starters, along with feedback to the results.
