Lesson Plan Format: Social Studies

Teacher: Ms. Siegler Grade Level: 1st Grade

I. Content and Standards:


a. Standard - 5.3.1.E Identify situations in the school or community when it
is beneficial to have an elected official represent the people.
II. Prerequisites:
a. Students must know that we vote for President.
III. Essential Questions:
a. What is voting?
b. What are the steps that need to be taken in order to vote?
IV. Instructional Objective:
a. SWBAT understand the definition of voting
b. SWBAT understand what voting looks like

V. Instructional Procedures -These two goals clearly communicate the outcomes for my
lesson. I explain what I want my students to be able to do by
