Enlightenment Role-play Reflection

After my trip to The Hague, Holland with other philosophers which are Martin Luther,
Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Mary Wollstonecraft, Niccolo Machiavelli, Immanuel Kant,
Jean-Jacques Rousseau, James ll, and Leonardo Da Vinci, I saw many philosophers
perspectives and idea about what they think about the world. In my groups situation is we are
deciding about which places we will go in The Hague specifically because there are many
interesting places to go from each philosophers suggestions. I feel that I gain more knowledge
about many places because each place has their own unique and history for people to come and
see. I learned many things through the conversation with other philosophers that relate to the
Essential Understanding of Unit 1, which is separated into three main categories of places that
are suggested from the philosophers. During the conversation, I learn from Kant and Da Vinci
that convince King James to go to the museum, Mauritshuis. This is the art museum that
contains lots of best paintings from the Dutch Golden Age, including the Dutch Mona Lisa
as shown that art is an important thing during that period too. However, there are many
churches that convinced by the philosophers such as Niccolo Machiavelli suggest to go to
Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) and Martin Luther suggest to go to Grote Kerk (Great Church)
which it was the effect of the Protestant Revolution that comes from the fight between Catholic
and Protestant. Moreover, Mary Wollstonecraft suggests about the Vredespaleis (Peace Palace)
which this palace is related to the ideal manifestation of humanitys rationalist desire for
fairness and rule of law to respect womens right and equality for peace and justice, as this
palace represents the society shape and also feudalism. There is also a museum of warfare or
the fight, Prison Museum, that store the equipment during the darker time before The Hague
became known as the City of peace and justice. Finally, in my group decided to go to
Maurithsuid, Great Church, and Peace Palace. In the past, there were many unrest situations
happen and it may create war because of religion and belief, so many things would change after
the war. The philosophers also have many opinions because of different perspectives on the
story. However, it is very interesting to do this role play and I am able to understand more
about each philosopher about their ideas and what they think during that time more specific.
