MATERIALS & LENS

ACETATE
Frame made of plastic cut from plastic sheets. This kind of frame is
highly resistant, flexible and thanks to the working process under
which it goes, it is provided with excellent quality.
Acetate is a natural plastic made from renewable, non petrol based,
cotton and tree pulp.
Its hypoallergenic and resistant to water.

INJECTED
Plastic frame, made with a special moulding treatment called
injection moulding.
The plastic material is heated and melted in a pressure cylinder,
then pressed with a piston and forced through a small nozzle
towards an eyewear-shape mould which can contain also metal.
Injected material is lighter than acetate.
Its incredibly elastic and flexible, very stable and retains its form.
As limit, injected frames are non-adjustable.
MATERIALS & LENS

METAL
Frame generally made with an alloy of nickel,
copper and zinc.
Each metal frames are treated with a galvanic
process, that leaves coating to prevent rusting.
In this way metal is resistant to corrosion and
sweat.

TITANIUM
Ultra light material, more durable than steel,
extremely flexible, corrosion-resistant and hypo-
allergenic

OTHER MATERIAL & INSERTS

Real horn is selected for its warm and luxurious
finishing and for its natural pattern that gives each
piece its unique quality.
MATERIALS & LENS

COLORING
Very important treatment for the quality and the
functionality of the sunglass lenses, because it limits the
penetration of the rays of a specific colour compared with
another. All filters offer UV protection.

MIRROR COATED LENSES

Lens coated with a thin metal laminate.
This covering film has a double functionality:
aesthetic for the mirrored effect, but also
functional, as it gives a greater filtering
protection, by increasing the one already offered
from the colouring.
MATERIALS & LENS

POLARIZED
Lens with a special plastic film 0,03mm thick, which blocks
the blinding rays of glare that are magnified by flat shiny
surfaces such as snow, water, ice and hot pavement or
sand. It eliminates the haze and distortion of conventional
lenses.

PHOTOCROMIC LENSES
Lens that darkens and lightens automatically in response to
changing light
MATERIALS & LENS

SUNGLASSES ARE CATEGORIZED BY THE AMOUNT OF LIGHT ALLOWED TO PASS THROUGH THE LENS.
This is called the luminous transmittance. Sun lenses are lenses with a tinted filter to protect from sunrays.

MARCOLIN LENSES USUALLY USES CATEGORY 2 or 3:

CATEGORY 2 : medium sun glare reduction, good UV protection

CATEGORY 3 : high sun glare reduction, good UV protection

It is important to recommend the right protection according to environmental conditions. The protection index, which
represents the darkness of the lenses, is indicated by a number on the temple of our sunglasses and guarantees the
high level of quality of our lenses.

Depending on the size, the sun lens can be divided into:

4 or 6 Base Lenses:
The measure of the radius is 4 or 6. 4 Base Lenses

Frames that can mount this type of lenses are suitable for
tinted prescription lenses.
6 Base Lenses

8 Base Lenses:
The measure of the radius is 8.
Glasses that are very curved or wrap around the face are
not suitable for mounting prescription lenses 8 Base Lenses
MATERIALS & LENS

HOW TO CLEAN GLASSES

Clean the eyewear with water (perhaps with a mild detergent)

and with a soft cloth, preferably microfiber.

Clean one lens at a time, lightly but firmly holding the lens by
the edge of the lens being cleaned.

Wrap the cloth around both sides of the lens, holding it against
the lens with the thumb and index finger. Gently wipe the lens
clean with the microfibre cloth rubbing in a circular motion.

Never clean sunglasses with paper towels or clothing, which

can grind dust and fibers into lenses and leave scratches. Also
avoid using household detergents or soaps. While none of
these products will do immediate apparent damage, over time
and with repetition, the damage will become visible.

ROUND
A soft, gentle and circular face shape with
proportional width and length and little or no angles.
Choose: frames that make the face longer and thinner;
angular frames with a rectangular or geometric shape;
frames with higher temples.
Best frame shapes: rectangle, geometric.

OVAL
A face with balanced proportions and gently curved
jawline. The chin is narrower than the forehead and
cheekbones are typically high.
Choose: most styles fit this face shape.
Best frame shapes: most frame shapes work, as long
as they are proportioned to the size of the face.
FACE SHAPE

TRIANGLE
Triangle face is wide at the jaw and gradually becomes
narrower upwards through to the forehead.
Choose: frames with detailing on the upper portion; half-rim
styles that balance the jawline.
Best frame shapes: half-rim, soft shapes, soft cat eye shapes
for feminine style.

SQUARE
This face possesses a strong jaw line and broad forehead with
a wide chin and cheekbones and proportional length and width.
Choose: frames with soft curves; frames that are narrow.
Avoid: frames that are flat at the bottom,
angular and square styles.
Best frame shapes: round, oval, cat eye, aviator.
