Babcock & Wilcox awarded share in Indonesian power plant project.

NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1995--McDermott International, Inc. (NYSE:MDR) announced

today that its Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) Power Generation Group has received a contract to supply
Sumitomo Corporation of Tokyo with two 660-megawatt coal-fired boilers for the Tanjung Jati B power
plant in central Java, Indonesia.

B&W will be responsible for approximately one-third of the total power plant project, which is valued at
approximately $900 million.

The EPC (engineer, procure, construct) contract, one of the first independent power projects in
Indonesia, was awarded in its entirety to Sumitomo Corporation by Consolidated Electrical Power of
Asia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hopewell Holdings of Hong Kong. Under contract with Sumitomo
Corporation, B&W will supply the boilers and associated equipment. Also included in the contract are
B&W precipitators and a complete wet flue gas desulphurization system to meet the Indonesian
environmental emissions standards.

B&W is also in partnership with Black & Veatch International to supply the balance-of-plant, including
coal and ash handling equipment, boiler structural steel and miscellaneous mechanical and electrical
equipment.

Work on the contract will be split between P.T. Babcock & Wilcox Indonesia, B&W's international
operation in Indonesia, and B&W's facility in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. The contract will officially
commence in December 1995 with completion targeted for September 1998.

Babcock & Wilcox has a long-standing relationship with Indonesia supplying seven coal-fired boilers for a
total of 3,400 megawatts for the Suralaya steam power plant in western Java. B&W is committed to
helping Indonesia reach its energy requirements by the year 2000.
