Instructions for Invitees to Fall Leadership Conference of the

National African American Drug Policy Coalition, Inc. and Ward 1 DFC Coalition

The National African American Drug Policy Coalition, Inc. in partnership

with the Ward 1 Drug Free Community Coalition will hold a Fall Leadership
Conference entitled "Creating Avenues and Pathways to Success: Identifying
Strategic Solutions to Address Disparities and Obstacles Related to Re-Entry,
Recovery and Recidivism" from September 15-16, 2010.
The conference kicks off on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the
Renaissance Washington DC Downtown Hotel, 999 9th Street, N.W. from 8:00
a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Our panels and conference participants will engage in
meaningful dialogue and discussion on finding solutions to affordable housing,
employment, substance abuse and behavior health needs, education, training, and
fatherhood.
On the afternoon of September 16 from 2pm-4:40pm at the Walter E.
Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place Northwest, Washington,
DC 20001, NAADPC will sponsor a film series, at the Congressional Black
Caucus Foundation’s 40th Annual Legislative Conference, that will feature two
films, “The Farm 10 Down” & “Justice For All”, that raise awareness of the
correctional system and its impact on American society, followed by a panel
discussion with film producers and experts. In addition, Fall Leadership
conference participants have been invited to attend a conference forum on
responsible fatherhood by African American men sponsored by the Omega Psi Phi
Fraternity and Congressman Hank Johnson on Thursday, September 16, 2010 from
11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
The Renaissance Washington DC Hotel has reserved a block of rooms
for our attendees for each of the nights of September 14 and September 15,
2010 at single or double rate occupancy of $228.00 per night. We urge you to
make your hotel room reservations, if needed, as soon as possible and no later
than Friday, September 3, 2010 as the availability of rooms thereafter at this
rate will be on a case-by-case basis. Please notify Rosalee Morris at
rosaleem@gmail.com or 202-806-8600 after you have made your reservation or if
you have any difficulty making your reservation.
The early bird registration fee for the conference is $250.00 due by
September 7, 2010, payable to NAADPC by check, and mailed to Ms. Rosalee
Morris, NAADPC, Howard University School of Law, Holy Cross Hall,
Room 400, 2900 Van Ness Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20008. An on-site
registration fee of $300.00 can be made by check or cash at the conference.
As the Coalition’s coffers are very lean at this time, money is not available to
reimburse individuals for travel and lodging, or to waive the registration fee.
With the recent successes with reducing the crack cocaine verses powder
cocaine disparity and parity for substance abuse and mental health care in the
Healthcare Reform legislation, we are at a critical stage in the evaluation of drug
policy and related issues in America. We need your support to make significant
achievements in the next two (2) years.
