Reading Path-

The reading path in this image communicates a message and a story to the audience. In this
image, we can see a child pulling an actual sized train/carriage and another child pulling a
toy sized train. We can also assume that the boy pulling the real carriage is poor, based on
his clothes. The message that the illustrator is trying to depict and convey is child labour/
slavery, and is exploiting people who use children as slaves. In third world countries children
are used as slaves and are forced to work at a very young age in sweatshops, and other
places that abuse human rights. This image is raising awareness of child labour, as it is
showing how children of young age are working and doing jobs that most of us arent even
able to do. It is also satirical as the young boy watching represents/symbolises society these
days. People watch other people on the news experiencing difficulty, but do not help them
instead just watch them.

Juxtaposition-

In this image, the illustrator has used juxtaposition to make their message more effective and easier
for people to understand. They have put two different children next to each other, showing one child
working hard and pulling a vehicle and the other child watching him, and is holding a rope to pull and
play with his toy train. The illustrator has done this consciously to show the differences between the
two children and is conveying that the child on the left is being forced to work extremely hard jobs,
while the other child is having fun playing with his toy.
