THE BIBLICAL CASE AGAINST CHRISTMAS

This subject is usually an emotional subject for many people on both sides. This should
not be the case, but rather it should be approached from a first and foremost Scriptural
standpoint, and secondly historically as well. I have have heard many arguments against
and in defense of Christmas over the years. Some arguments against Christmas are
definitely weak and can be refuted. I do believe though that the celebration of Christmas
will be indefensible from Scripture after reading this. Please read through all the way
before you make any judgments, this is not a typical rehashing of old arguments, but
rather a clear and Biblically sound reproof coming from a position of love for God and
the truth.

I would like to start off by saying I grew up celebrating Christmas. I LOVED Christmas.
What child would not love presents, candy and chocolate, family dinners and fun
activities, decorating trees and houses, the music and smells, etc.? Every year the sights,
smells, and sounds invoke feelings of childhood fun and nostalgia. If anyone would
WANT to celebrate Christmas it would be me. I could say the same thing for adults. What
harm is there in a holiday that brings families together for food, fun, and gift giving?
Many would also say how could it be wrong to celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus
Christ?

The problem is when you bring the name of Jesus into the equation(the word "CHRIST"
is in Christmas) it changes everything.

What must first be said is that whenever this topic is discussed it is usually from the
perspective of what an individual wants, prefers, or feels. It is rarely ever discussed from
the perspective of what God thinks, what God wants, or how God feels about the
subject. I can tell you with full assurance that God has already told us how He feels
about this topic. The problem is that most Christians don't care enough about what God
wants to study the Scriptures and prove whether celebrating Christmas is pleasing to
Him or not.

"[13] He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him." -
Proverbs 18:13

THE TRUTH

God has told us how He feels about truth in the word of God. The truth is very important
to God in many ways.
"Jesus said in John 14:6 that he is the way, the TRUTH, and the life. Jesus himself is
identified as truth. God is all about the truth.
Jesus said that the word of God was truth in John 17.
"(17 ) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. (18) As thou hast sent me into
the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. (19) And for their sakes I sanctify
myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth." - John 17:17-19
As we read above we learn that Jesus asks the Father to sanctify (set apart) his people by
truth and that the truth is Gods word. Jesus reiterates this point when he says that he set
himself apart (sanctified) for the sake of those that are his people and then he prays that
the Father would set his people apart through the truth. It is simple to see what separates
the Christian from the world. It is the TRUTH.
In addition to this the word of God says that the Lord's churches are supposed to be the
guardians, defenders, and teachers of THE TRUTH:
"...the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the
truth." - I Timothy 3:15
This is the heart of the Christmas issue. Is Christmas true? Was Jesus born on December
25th? Do we know with any certainty when he was born? If we do know when Jesus was
born, or at the least, if we can know when he wasnt born, should we partake in a blatant
lie as children of truth? This is what makes this subject of Christmas more than what it is
portrayed to be. It is a little bit bigger than the pagan roots, or negative and positive
connotations. It is as big as the truth. If we are to separate ourselves by standing for, and
being about the truth, then what are we doing aligning ourselves with lies? Who is the
father of lies? We find the answer to that question in John 8. First, Jesus makes a
statement about truth.
" (31) Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word,
then are ye my disciples indeed;
(32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:31,32
Then Jesus upbraids the Jews with some very harsh words. Notice how Jesus
differentiates himself from them by comparing truth with lies.
"44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a
murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not
of God." - John 8:44-47
Jesus clearly points out that an obvious distinction between his disciples and the world is
at that line drawn by the truth. Of course, there is more to it than this in its entirety, but
anyone can see that lining up with lies lines us up with the devil. It is as simple as that.
So, was Jesus born on December 25th? The answer is no he wasnt. He wasnt born then
and we can know this with all certainty. How can you say that, you may ask? I can say
that because of studying the Bible. It is amazing how many Christians have never really
searched this subject out. There are various reasons, but my experience tells me that one
powerful reason is because they always thought they knew when he was born because of
Christmas. It never dawned on them to question it. If one doesnt question something, he
will never investigate it.
The key to knowing when Jesus was born centers on Zacharias, the father of John the
Baptist. The account of Zacharias and his priestly service is found in the gospel of Luke.
In Luke 1:5 we learn that Zacharias was of the course of Abijah. This is a description of
the family that Zacharias is descended from. King David appointed the courses (the turns
or order of the ministration) to ensure that the priestly work was evenly divided so as not
to burden one family over another.
"5 Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the
sanctuary, and governors of the house of God, were of the sons of Eleazar, and of the
sons of Ithamar...
7 Now the first lot came forth to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,...
10 The seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah," - I Chronicles 24:5,7,10
As we have read above, the course of Abijah was the eighth course. This means that
Zacharias was following in the footsteps of the sons of Abijah in performing the eighth
course. As you also notice, there are 24 courses. Each course consisted of one week,
twice a year. The courses started in the first month (this principle is outlined in 1Chron.
27). So the first course would begin in the first month first week and each week the next
course would take its turn. There were also 3 main feasts per year upon which the whole
congregation of Israel came to the Temple in Jerusalem. These 3 feasts were the feasts of
Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles (see Leviticus 23 for this). On these 3 weeks, the
whole priesthood would minister. In the case of Zacharias then, during the eighth course,
it would have been the tenth week of the year because Passover and Pentecost were
observed since the first of the year. The Hebrew calendar begins with the first month of
Nisan which is right around the beginning of April. The Hebrew calendar was a lunar
calendar as opposed to our current solar calendar and this explains the difference between
the calendars.
Anyway, Zacharias is performing the course of Abijah on the tenth week of the Hebrew
year (ten weeks after early April). In Luke we learn that Zacharias was told that his wife
Elisabeth would conceive John the Baptist. So after John goes home from his priestly
duties, it is late June when Elisabeth conceives. Next, we learn that the angel Gabriel
visits a virgin girl named Mary. He tells her that she would conceive Jesus. Mary was the
cousin of Elisabeth, so Mary runs to Elisabeths house to share the good news. When
Mary is given the news of her conception by Gabriel, we learn that Elisabeth is six
months pregnant.
"And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this
is the sixth month with her, who was called barren." - Luke 1:36
Since Elisabeth conceived in late June, six months later gets us to late December (see late
December is not irrelevant because this is when Jesus was conceived, but it is not when
he was born). Nine months later, Jesus would be born. This is late September; right
around the feast of Tabernacles. (Disclaimer: I believe Jesus was born on the feast of
Tabernacles because Jesus fulfilled so much scripture in his life- died on Passover, went
to hell on the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and rose on the Feast of Firstfruits. Therefore it
makes no sense to me that Jesus would be born at just any meaningless time on the
calendar. Is this because Jesus is God tabernacling in the flesh maybe?). Nonetheless,
Jesus was born in late September. This is corroborated by the fact the shepherds were
close by, the fact that Caesar Augustus decided to tax the population at that time and this
is why Joseph and Mary were traveling to Bethlehem in the first place. Does a king tax
people in the winter time when this is the time when they have less to give than any other
time of the year? Does a king require his people to travel in the winter- especially across
mountains? That just makes no sense. The best time to tax would be right after the
harvest. That would be when? September."
There is more evidence and other reasons if anyone needs it, but this should suffice.
"So we can conclusively say that Jesus was not born in December let alone December
25th. That is a lie. It is not the truth. We do know when Jesus was born so how is it we
can line up with a lie again? Arent we supposed to line up and set ourselves apart from
the world by lining up with truth? Yes we are. It seems that this is not as important for
most Christians, but that is not the question again. The question is whether or not the
truth is important to God and whether we can be pleasing God by perpetuating a lie."
God has told us specifically what type of worship is not only pleasing to Him, but
REQUIRED of saved people:
"[23] But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the
Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
[24] God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
- John 4:23,24
Now that we know it is a lie to say Jesus was born Dec. 25th, add to this the fact that
multiple pagan gods like Nimrod, Osiris, Mithras all had birthdays celebrated on Dec.
25th even before the time of Christ, the fact that pretty much every tradition associated
with Christmas(decorating evergreen trees, wreaths, mistletoe, yule logs, etc) are easily
proven to be pagan in origin and then "baptized" "Christian" by the Roman Catholic
church, we can conclude that we CANNOT be worshipping God "in TRUTH" with
the celebration of Christmas.
Here are the facts about where these traditions of Christmas trees with presents under
them, wreaths, and other traditions come from:
"The Christmas tree, now so common among us, was equally common in Pagan Rome and
Pagan Egypt. In Egypt that tree was the palm-tree; in Rome it was the fir; the palm-tree
denoting the Pagan Messiah, as Baal-Tamar, the fir referring to him as Baal-Berith
But why, it may be asked, does he enter the fire under the symbol of a (Yule)Log? To
understand this, it must be remembered that the divine child born at the winter solstice was
born as a new incarnation of the great god (after that god had been cut in pieces), on purpose
to revenge his death upon his murderers. Now the great god, cut off in the midst of his power
and glory, was symbolised as a huge tree, stripped of all its branches, and cut down almost to
the ground. But the great serpent, the symbol of the life restoring Aesculapius, twists itself
around the dead stock, and lo, at its side up sprouts a young tree--a tree of an entirely
different kind, that is destined never to be cut down by hostile power--even the palm-tree, the
well-known symbol of victory. The Christmas-tree, as has been stated, was generally at Rome
a different tree, even the fir; but the very same idea as was implied in the palm-tree was
implied in the Christmas-fir; for that covertly symbolised the new-born God as Baal-
berith, * "Lord of the Covenant," and thus shadowed forth the perpetuity and everlasting
nature of his power, not that after having fallen before his enemies, he had risen triumphant
over them all.
Therefore, the 25th of December, the day that was observed at Rome as the day when the
victorious god reappeared on earth, was held at the Natalis invicti solis, "The birth-day of
the unconquered Sun." Now the Yule Log is the dead stock of Nimrod, deified as the
sun-god, but cut down by his enemies; the Christmas-tree is Nimrod redivivus--the slain
god come to life again."
- The Two Babylons, Alexander Hislop
"The slain god come to life again"? Sound familiar?
"[3] And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was
healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
[14]...saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the
beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live." - Revelation 13:3,14
The above mentioned Baal-berith(lord of covenants), who was worshipped in Shechem, is
condemned in the Bible, "...the children of Israel turned again, and went a whoring after
Baalim, and made Baal-berith their god." - Judges 8:33
Baal-tamar(lord of the palm) is also mentioned in Judges 20:33. All forms of Baal worship
are strongly condemned by God in the Bible.
Semiramis(Nimrod's wife and mother) claimed that Nimrod would visit that evergreen
tree and leave gifts each year on the anniversary of his birth, which just happened to
be on December 25th. The ancient Babylonian "Christmas tree" became known as a
symbol of fertility throughout the ancient world. The pole, balls, and tinsel represented
various aspects of male fertility, while wreaths were always fashioned in a circle to
represent female fertility. Also, the wreaths are branches twisted into circles, so the
branches would be associated with the sun, another representation of the
unconquerable sun god - Nimrod.
Leading up to December 25th in ancient Rome, a festival known as Saturnalia was one of
the biggest celebrations of the year. Saturnalia was a festival during which the Romans
commemorated the dedication of the temple of their god Saturn. Saturnalia was
typically characterized by gift-giving, feasting, singing and lots and lots of debauchery.
The priests of Saturn would carry wreaths of evergreen boughs in procession
throughout the pagan Roman temples.
Christmas is trying to worship God with paganism and lies. This angered God multiple
times before(Exodus 32:1-10, I Kings 12:26-33). It is also teaching children lies as well.
The next point I would like to make is to address what may be the next argument from
someone(even though it makes no sense).
Someone may say, "Well we don't focus on the trees and presents and it doesn't matter if
those were originally pagan because we are worshipping Christ in spirit from the heart."
First of all, you cannot even say that you don't care about the decorating of trees and
presents and everything or else you wouldn't spend all the time, effort, and money to do
all those things. You would just forgo all the traditions of Christmas and read about Jesus'
birth with family.
Secondly, the point that someone defends Christmas by saying the issue is not the
observance, but the reason, the attitudes and the spirit in which it is done.
"To say it is fine to celebrate the birth of Christ if the manner in which it is done matches
the description above. Let us see if this logic holds up. What if we decided to celebrate
the resurrection of Christ as if he was dead for 5 days and not 3? What if we did it with a
good attitude and spirit? Would that make it good? Do the reason, attitude, and spirit
make a 5 day death true? No it does not. These things have no bearing on truth. If we can
remember that, then it doesnt matter what the reason, attitude, and spirit in which
something is done is. Truth is truth. Funny how clear we can understand this principle
when examined in the light of something upon which all Christians agree. Many religious
people have good reasons, attitudes, and spirit behind their message, but if what they
preach isnt true, it is just as deadly as blatant evil. The false gospel of many well
meaning Mormons isnt made true or good because of their motives and attitudes. Pretty
simple isnt it? So simple it is hard to accept its simplicity if one desperately wants to
cling to what feels good instead of truth."
Thirdly, we just read that God said He must be worshipped "in spirit and in truth" so that
means BOTH. In addition to that, the "spirit" many claim to be celebrating Christmas
with is easily proven to not be the Spirit of God. How so? Let's look at a few facts and the
Scriptures.
Christmas was not only invented by the Catholic Church it is STILL celebrated by them
today. Are Catholics worshipping the same Jesus as saved people? Does the pope worship
Jesus in the same spirit as the saved Christian?
Christmas is celebrated by not only the Catholics, but other cults, ecumenical apostate
professing christians and pretty much the whole world(at least in America). Are they
worshipping in the same spirit? Do they have the same Spirit? The answer is no.
Whenever you hear someone, most of the time a lost person, talk about the "spirit of the
season", what spirit are they referring to? The Bible says the world has a different spirit
than the saved:
"[12] Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of
God;..." - I Corinthians 2:12
The spirit of the season is not the spirit of God because of the fact that the lost celebrates
this holiday.
What else does the Bible say about the relationship the Christian is supposed to have with
the world?
You may have heard the argument before from someone against Christmas using the
passage from Jeremiah chapter 10. You may say that passage is only for Israel, but let's
look at it again:
"[2] Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the
signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
[3] For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the
work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
[4] They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers,
that it move not.
[5] They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because
they cannot go..." - Jeremiah 10:2-5
The main point of the passage though is where God says, "Learn not the way of the
heathen". Does this only apply to Israel or does this principle apply to New Testament
Christians?
The following passages clearly show that the saved person is still not to learn the way of
the heathen/world/pagans:
"[2] And be not conformed to this world..." - Romans 12:2
"[27] Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this...to keep himself
unspotted from the world." - James 1:27
"[14] But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by
whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world." - Galatians 6:14
"[15] Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the
world, the love of the Father is not in him.
[16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the
pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." - I John 2:15,16
We can see clearly we are supposed to be different than the world. We are not to follow
the ways of the world. We are surely not to think the world all of a sudden loves Christ
and celebrates His birth once a year. The world hates Christ.
"[18] If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
[19] If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the
world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." - John
15:18
What about supposedly using Christmas to evangelize the lost?
First, I personally have NEVER heard of one person getting saved just because a
Christian celebrated Christmas with them. The Bible says the preaching of the Gospel is
the method God has ordained to save the lost, not the celebrating of Catholic traditions.
Even if someone has been saved during Christmas, it is in spite of Christmas, not because
there is "something special about that time of year" that makes people more receptive to
the Gospel. For most of the country Christmas is about the flesh: eating, drinking,
covetousness, envying, strife, and it is also proven to be the most depressing time of year
for many. The fact of reality is that most Christians do NOT use Christmas to evangelize.
The reason they celebrate it is because they like the food, decorations, music, smells, time
with family and friends, and nostalgia. Notice that there is nothing in there about doing
what is pleasing to God, what is gloryfying to God, and what God's will is according to
the Scriptures.
Secondly, when does the Bible ever say it is okay to use the things of this world to reach
the lost? Most truly saved people will agree it is bad to use rock bands, modern Bible
versions, immodest dress, and other such things to reach the lost and yet we have
Christians trying to justify using a holiday clearly heathen in origin, clearly only
associated with Christianity because of the Catholic Church and it's propensity to
Christianize pagan customs, and clearly based on lies in order to "reach the lost"? Really?
In addition to the Scriptural mode of reaching the lost through preaching the Gospel year
round, do we not have other vast resources including Gospel tracts, videos, mp3's,
websites, books, and the list goes on?
"What about the pentagram? Maybe we could just say that it is no longer a goat head
representing the devil but is now just a symbol representing the star of Bethlehem. Yeah,
thats it. We could absorb these pagan things and make them Christian. We have no need
of avoiding pentagrams. Let us all begin wearing pentagrams at Christmas time so that
we can tell people about the star of Bethlehem and give them the gospel. Would you buy
into that movement? Of course you wouldnt, but it is the same logic as using the pagan
Christmass customs."
Jesus was not born in December therefore you would be lying to people in order to
preach to them. The Bible says those who do the work of the Lord(which includes
witnessing") deceitfully are cursed:
"[10] Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully" - Jeremiah 4:10
What's also funny about this is the fact that many times I have opened doors to witness to
people because of the fact that I DON'T celebrate Christmas. This is YEAR ROUND by
the way. People learn this fact and they ask why and then it usually always turns into a
conversation leading to the Gospel. One can still witness about Jesus during December by
proclaiming the truth about Jesus and by backing up the truth by refusing to condone lies
by not celebrating Christmas.
Most Christians really do not celebrate Christmas to reach the lost.
Clearly the reason most Christians celebrate Christmas is because their flesh likes it, it is
an idol in their heart, and they fear how the world, family, friends, or other Christians
would react if they stopped celebrating it.
Many Christians are not even aware of the fact that many lost people find it amusing
when Christians celebrate holidays which are clearly pagan in origin because it justifies
their common view that Christianity is nothing, but paganism repackaged(which is
exactly what the Catholic Church is) which they have planted in their minds by such
wildly popular movies as Zeitgeist.
The truth is that December 25th was celebrated as the birthday of scores of pagan gods
long before it was ever associated with Jesus. As we discussed earlier, the celebration of
December 25th goes all the way back to Nimrod (who eventually came to be worshipped
as Baal).
Baal worship spread throughout the known world and provided the basis for all other
pagan religions. The following are just some of the pagan gods that had "birthdays" on
December 25th....
Mithras, Horus, Attis, Dionysus the son of Zeus, Tammuz, Hercules, Perseus, Helios,
Bacchus, Apollo, Jupiter, Sol Invictus - (The "Unconquered Sun")
In the year 350 A.D., Pope Julius I declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on
December 25th from then on. There appears to be little doubt that Pope Julius was trying
to make it as painless as possible for pagan Romans to convert to Catholicism.
When the Roman Catholics decided to make December 25th a "Christian holiday" in the
fourth century, they simply adopted a long standing pagan holiday and kept most of the
same pagan traditions. When Martin Luther and the other Protestants came out of the
Catholic church they still kept some false traditions in tact including infant baptism,
universal church doctrine, and also pagan/Catholic holidays like Christmas, Easter, etc.
The Puritans in America eventually rejected and outlawed Christmas, but the holiday
made a resurgence around the time that modern versions of the Bible were being
popularized and eventually Baptists fell prey to the holidays and the leaven thus spread
throughout.
Nineteenth century newspaper and local church records indicate few Baptist
congregations formally celebrated Christmas prior to the 1880s.
It is a powerful tool for evangelism when you can actually agree with them that it is
pagan and show them your head is not in the sand.
There are many more arguments that could be set forth against Christmas and much more
detail regarding all of the evil heathen origins and meanings of all the traditions
associated with Christmass, but this will suffice for now. Anyone can ask me if they need
more information.
The bottom line is that celebrating Christmas is not worshipping God in spirit and in
truth, it is not pleasing to God, it is of the world, it is having fellowship with the world
and Rome, it is a worldy method of evangelism, and it is lying to children and the lost
that Jesus was born in December when He was not.
Instead, why don't we celebrate the birth and more importantly the death, burial, and
resurrection of Jesus Christ year round and preach the Gospel year round without the aid
of the world's traditions.
"[7] Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctines the commandments of
men.
[8] For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men...
[9]...Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
[13] Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition..." - Mark 7:7-13

(I will do a separate show covering the arguments about Romans 14, Christian liberty,
and meat offered to idols because those passages are used to justify many different
things.)
---
I would also like to end this by including a few quotes from some well known Christians
of the past:
"On your day of gladness, we [Christians] neither cover
our doorposts with wreaths, nor intrude upon the day with lamps.
At the call of public festivity, you consider it a proper thing
to decorate your house like some new brothel.
We are accused of a lower sacrilege because
we do not celebrate along with you the holidays ..."
- Tertullian, (A.D. 155-220), 2001, p. 1176).
(quoted by David Bercot, A Dictionary of Early Christian Beliefs,
1998, p. 342).
"The pagan Romans clad their doorposts with green and branching
laurels...In the Saturnalia...Presents come and go...There are...gifts...
and Banquets...yet Christians should have no acquaintance with
the festivals of the pagans."
- Tertullian, (A.D. 155-220),
quoted by David Bercot,
A Dictionary of Early Christian Beliefs, 1998, p. 342).
We have no superstitious regard for times and seasons. Certainly we do not believe in
the present ecclesiastical arrangement called Christmas: first, because we do not believe
in the mass at all, but abhor it, whether it be said or sung in Latin or in English; and,
secondly, because we find no Scriptural warrant whatever for observing any day as the
birthday of the Savior; and, consequently, its observance is a superstition, because not of
divine authority. (Charles Spurgeon, Sermon on Dec. 24, 1871).
When it can be proved that the observance of Christmas, Whitsuntide, and other Popish
festivals was ever instituted by a divine statute, we also will attend to them, but not till
then. It is as much our duty to reject the traditions of men, as to observe the ordinances
of the Lord. We ask concerning every rite and rubric, Is this a law of the God of Jacob?
and if it be not clearly so, it is of no authority with us, who walk in Christian liberty.
(from Charles Spurgeons Treasury of David on Psalm 81:4.)
"And WHO is it that celebrates "Christmas?" The whole "civilized world." Millions who
make no profession of faith in the blood of the Lamb, who "despise and reject Him," and
millions more who while claiming to be His followers yet in works deny Him, join in
merrymaking under the pretense of honoring the birth of the Lord Jesus. Putting it on it's
lowest ground, we would ask, is it fitting that His friends should unite with His enemies
in a worldly round of fleshly gratification? Does any true born again soul really think that
He whom the world cast out is either pleased or glorified by such participation in the
world's joys? Verily, the customs of the people are VAIN; and it is written, "Thou shalt
not follow a multitude to do evil" (Ex. 23:2).
