PROJECT TITLE
To investigate and to find out how much Eastern Caribbean Dollar (E.C) is equal to in United
States Currency (U.S), how much First year Vincentian Student Nurses converted in September
via online shopping on a four hundred dollar spending as oppose to spending in the economy.

PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT

Exchange rates: are the amount of one currency you can exchange for another. For example, the
dollar's exchange rate tells you how much a dollar is worth in a foreign currency.

Online shopping has become popular amongst Vincentian population especially amongst
students of higher learning that being: St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College
members. Therefore, the researcher chose this topic to find out the if its cheaper shopping online
or shopping in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The benefit of doing this research is that data would be analyze on the First Year Registered
Nurses preference of spending and show how much E.C was converted to U.S in the month
September. Source as mention would be First Year Student Nurses at the Division of Nursing
Education.

METHOD OF COLLECTION
OF DATA
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College Division of Nursing has a population of

over two hundred Training Registered Nurses. A sampling frame of fifty-two students all from

First Year was chosen for the sampling due to the fact that they are generally the younger ones.

A sample (n) of thirty students was selected to carry out the investigation. Data was collected via

questionnaires and interview. Questionnaire allows for firsthand information, they are easily

administered and they are less time consuming. A random sample of thirty student was taken

which consist of four males and twenty-five females. On the other hand, interview gives the

researcher the ability to gather extra information with persons knowing.

The method of data collection was judged to be appropriate due to the fact the questionnaire can

be structured to gather only the information necessary for the investigation. There were no flaws

because the questionnaire was given to randomly chosen respondents so as to prevent bias. In

addition, the questions were clearly stated to prevent confusion so that they could be easily

answered.

The research was carried out on the September 4th, 2017. Thirty (30) questionnaires were given

to the students that were randomly chosen for the investigation and all were completed and

return.

PROBABILITY

Conditional Probability

In order to ascertain the needed data about whether or not Online Shopping is cheaper than island

shopping, the researcher saw it necessary to conduct a probability test using conditional

probability.

Let G be the event that a student spent an average of 100 % spending online.

Let H be the event that a student spent an average of 400 dollars online.

P (G/H) = P (GnH) = (10/30) = 0.333 = 0.4992 = 333/667

P (H) (20/30) = 0.667

Let G be the event that a student spent an average of 100 % spending online.

Let H be the event that a student spent an average of 400 dollars online.

P (G/H) = P (GnH) = (15/30) = 0.50 = 0.7463 = 50/67

P (H) (20/30 )= 0.67
