Reflections Year 8:

English:

Reflections for all terms:

In term 1 we learnt about refugees and asylum seekers, we read the book no safe place and
had to make a video diary explaining what happened in the book and I had loads of fun and
exciting times throughout the process.

In term 2 we learnt about the book troy, we read through the magical and mysterious book of
troy which contained loads of war and havoc. For our assessment task, we had to memorize a
play and perform it in front of the class.

In term 3 we learnt about Hitlers daughter the book, inside the book it had loads of cool info
about hitlers daughter and how he lived his life, for our assessment task we had to write an
ieqtel structure and answer comprehension questions about the book.

In term 4 we learnt about artemis fowl, the book included many cool stories which we read
about and it was a blast, though we didn't have an assessment task we did have exams.

Maths:

In term 1 maths, we learnt about spot on essentially just numbers, indices, algebra and basic
stuff, I found the assessment task easy and got a high mark for it as well as the term was also
very easy.

In term 2 we learnt about investigating and how to carry out word problems and solve them,
my assessment task was very simple and was also easy.

In term 3 we learnt about congruence, ahoy there where we had many different word
problems and questions related to algebra and angles to solve. over all I thought the term was
somewhat difficult since Im not the best at word problems.

In term 4 we did an over view over the whole year and practiced for the end of year exams,
overall I thought it wasn't hard till the exam day and after that ...: P

Humanities:

In term 1 humanities we learnt about medieval Europe and how they ruled their country for
our assessment task we had to write an essay in the perspective of the medieval Europeans.

In term 2, we learnt about the everyday lives of japan and what they did every day, most
people were farmers etc. In our assessment task, we had to also write about how japan ruled
their country and practiced their religion.
In term 3, we learnt about sweatshops and how they treat people who work there very
unfairly and why they do it, for the assessment task I didn't properly read the outline and
went sideways but I managed to make it a pass so it wasn't as bad :(

In term 4, we learnt about the shoguns and medieval Europe and japan, a recap overall. We
studied hard to pass our exam and I think it paid off at the end.

Arabic:

In term 1 Arabic we learnt about the family systems and all the vocabulary matching the
family word ... for our assessment task we had to answer an exam paper ask us questions
about families.

In term 2, we learnt about exploring and sightseeing and how we use the vocab surrounding
the topic as well as in the assessment we had to learn how we can create a structural sentence
describing exploring and sightseeing.

In term 3, we learnt about the celebrations and traditions of the world, like previous terms we
learnt about the vocab surrounding the topic and were assessed on our well understanding
about it.

In term 4, we learnt about the school life in Arabic, we learnt different words relating to
school and we also revised for the end of year exams in Arabic.

ATL:

In Atl we didn't learn anything except get motivated by a speaker and revise topics for our
assessment and enjoy 45 minutes of free time etc. We submitted our portfolios and practised
for end of years exams... Atl in a nutshell!!

Design & Tec:

In term 1, unfortunately on my side all the details and information for term 1 has been deleted
and no mark scheme had been given:

In term 2, we learnt about the sneaker heads where we got to design our own shoes and learnt
how to create, sell and colour them, I got an outstanding 7/8 for this term :)

In term 3, we learnt about Photoshop and made our own magazines, I got a good insight of
how to make my own magazine and produced top quality work, though we still dont have
our marks back yet: {
In term 4, we learnt how to make our own kids toy, using all the materials we need to
craft toys for a younger audience etc. We haven't finished our toys yet so we do not have our
marks.

PDH/PE:

In term 1 we learnt to play a different and variety of games like basketball, netball and
soccer, for our assessment task we had to reflect on our skills and how good we did at the
games.

In term 2, we learnt netball, European handball where we went to Burnie Mullane to play
handball and had loads of fun, we also had an assessment task where we had to reflect again
on our performances.

In term 3 we had the sport winter invasion sports - netball and soccer for 5 weeks we played
soccer and the rest we played netball where we had to perform various task to improve our
skills and outline what we did amazing in our assessment task.

In term 4 we learnt how to bounce to the beat and how to be un a rhythm and bounce a
basketball to a beat, for our assessment task we had to perform it live on stage.

Science:

In term 1 we learnt about atoms in science, we learnt about neutrons electrons protons etc. for
our assessment task we were assessed on our knowledge of atoms...

In term 2, we learnt about how to make a car, which was the best topic ever!!! we also had to
do an srp project which was very difficult and took loads of time.

In term 3, we learnt about how to make a model of an organ or body system as well as state
the problems the kidney could go through or face.

In term 4, we learnt re-capped over the last terms, photosynthesis, plant cells, animals cells
etc. We revised for the end of year exam which I had neutral marks for:(

Visual Arts:

In term 1 we learnt about pop art where we drew loads of artwork and painted cool designs
and for our assessment task we had to make a canvas artwork on pop art, at least thats what I
remember.

In term 2, we learnt about art making, we had a brief de brief on what all the artist colours
and shapes, texture is for our assessment task where we made an artwork using all those art
skills.

In term 3, we learnt about cubism artwork, where you take cubes and make art out of it, yes
really! for my assessment I drawn an image of my pencil case and water bottle.
In term 4, we learnt about landscape artwork, we learnt all the basics again for the end of year
exam and then applied it all into our artworks to make them look amazing!

Islamic Studies & Quran:

Reflections for all terms:

In term 1 we learnt about the prophets and messengers, Mr Waleed taught us loads about our
holy prophet and made the assessment task very easy to understand, overall it was very
simple.

In term 2, we learnt about the Islamic manners of Islam, Mr Waleed taught us how to use the
manners and showed us what they are and meant, unfortunately we did not get our marks
back yet so I do not have any idea if the term was simple or not.

in term 3, we learnt about zakat and sadaqah, where we learnt how to give zakat and how to
give sadaqah, I got good marks in the exam and learnt a lot about our religion and how we
give and receive from others

In term 4, we learnt about the sahabi where we had to memorize which sahabi where the best
of the best and which where the prophets greatest companion and friends, overall we had a
great time.
