Introduction to the Liturgy

Commentator: Today, on the very last day of the liturgical year,
together with all Christians around the world, we
celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King.

In this Eucharistic celebration, we declare and

affirm that our Lord Jesus Christ is not only the
King who reigns over the entire created universe
but He is also the shepherd who tends and
lovingly looks over His people, His flock.

Brothers and sisters, today our Shepherd-King

calls us to proclaim His great love to the world,
especially to the poor -- the least, the lost and the
last -- to set this world ablaze with the freeing
power and fire of His love, and to turn this world
upside down for Christ and for the sake of His
glory!

Viva Cristo Rey!

Entrance procession
The Music Ministry plays the Entrance song (Days of Elijah) and

fault. Therefore, I ask Blessed Mary, ever virgin,
all the angels and saints, and you my brothers

Commentator: The Lord rebukes the shepherds of Israel for

failing to care for and to tend them. And the Lord
Himself takes over from them this responsibility
to seek and gather the lost, to rescue them, to
feed them, heal them, strengthen them, and to
watch over them.

Homily

Nicene Creed
Commentator: Let us all now rise and profess our faith.

All: I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker

of heaven and earth, of all things visible and
invisible.

I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only

begotten Son, born of the Father before all ages.
6

God from God, light from light, true God from true
God, begotten not made, consubstantial with the
Father. Through Him, all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation, he came down
from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit, was made
incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake, He was crucified under Pontius

Pilate. He suffered death and was buried, and
rose again on the third day, in accordance with the
scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is
seated at the right hand of the Father. He will
come again in glory to judge the living and the
dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of

life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and
glorified, and who has spoken through the
prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic

Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness
of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the
dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
