Introduction
With our latest attitude towards the environment and the big challenges we face
we need a change in our perspective towards nature and how we deal with
worldwide issues such as global warming and the greenhouse effect. This essay
will deal with the philosophy of Leonardo Boff who is a Brasilian thinker (he says
that we should use care as an instrument in order to overcome our ecological and
social crisis).
In this brief document I will expose some of my insights and opinions about how
his ideology can help us and some of the pros and negatives of his thinking, also I
will give a conclusion where I take the information learned form the document and
Personal Reflection
I really liked Leonardo Boffs essay I also agree that there is a huge need for chan-
ge in our society in respect to ecological issues, the evidence is clear with the cha-
llenges we face for our perspective future and I dont think we are doing enough
to make a real change, peoples perspective is changing but what we need right
now is radical change because we dont have much time to revert the damage
done to Earth.
His philosophy has a lot of deeper meaning and I like how he feels about our so-
ciety and how we have become much more materialistic and shallow, we are for-
getting to respect Earth since it is our only place to live we cannot afford to keep
Conclusion
Boff goes way beyond only explaining in a simple way our ecological problems, he
defines all of them as also being a problem within ourselves, we need to treat this
problems as if they were our own personal ones, we have lost our espiritual vincu-
lation with the world and only if we treat them as our own problems will we be
The author relates this idea with the three currents of fundamental thinking: Philo-
Adler, Rogers) and Genetic Biology (Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg). As I stated
previously Boff states that we have to fell as part of Earth since this comes with a
greater sense of responsibility, this would not only make us act because society
I really enjoyed this read and I think his philosophy would be very helpful if people
adopted it, in my opinion it is a bit radical but not radical with violence and ag-
gressiveness it is radical with its ideas, it seems a little bit crazy because we are
nothing like this in our society everyone works for himself and doesnt care about
the rest.
The current ecological spectrum is like this because we are in a extreme situation
and we just cant wrap our heads around it. Boffs ideology suggests a complete
reformation in our philosophy of life and how we interact with ourselves and the
world and this is a really good way to go, it may not work 100% with everyone but
