We use the same one percent of all of Earths water over and over again. The water moves
around and around the water cycle. Water evaporates from ocean, rivers, and lakes.
Evaporation is when liquid water changes to water vapor, which is a gas that you cannot see.
The water vapor rises into the sky and condenses into clouds as it cools. Water also evaporates
from plant leaves; this is called transpiration. Condensation means that water vapor turns into
water droplets. When the clouds get heavy with water droplets, they fall to the ground as rain,
snow, sleet or hail, depending on the temperature. Any water falling from clouds is called
precipitation. This water might flow into a stream or river on to its way to a lake or ocean. Some
precipitation will soak into the ground and be stored in aquifers underground.
