I am writing this letter to apply for the position of R&D Process Development Engineer. From my
Chemical Engineering senior design project, I learned how to use Chemical Engineering knowledge to
solve problems, work with integrity and work hard to achieve the goal.

My senior design project was about the production of Butadiene from the oxidative dehydrogenation
reaction of Butene. This was a one-semester project that aimed for better and more productive
methods of producing Butadiene. My part in this project included researching different available
chemical pathways to produce Butadiene, economical screening of the entire project and designing
effective distillation columns.

I can be a valuable employee because I am familiar with solving various chemical engineering problems.
My senior design project taught me skills similar to your position responsibilities such as implementing
the preparation of simulation models, equipment specifications, design computations, process flow
diagrams, piping design and detailed calculations.

The project required a large amount of commitment in terms of time and dedication for a common goal.
In spite of the intense schedule of classes and exams, I managed to dedicate sufficient time for this
project. As a result, the project was completed on time and worked well. I also showed my ability to
contribute effectively to the group. With a given deadline, I managed to complete my given tasks and
make sure that my work was presentable in a professional manner. I believe that my project helped me
to work safely, to be a leader, and to work efficiently. These are values that are important to your
company because an engineer should always be rigorous, respectful and ready.

Although I am a citizen of Vietnam, I have lived in Myanmar, the Philippines and the United States
during the past ten years, and I am able to adjust readily to new locations and work environments.
