The newly designed 2017-18 ALP will consist of the following working tabs listed in the order in which they appear
in the in EWS and within the ALP. Below, step by step instructions are listed for each tab. Teachers may complete
the ALP Teacher Worksheet prior to ALP entry, which will increase efficiency by compiling the required ALP
student information.
Useful EWS tabs:
MY DASHBOARD - displays student information
VIEWS - will have gifted data filters created by AAGS
INTERVENTION - this is where teachers will access the ALP
Teachers will enter ALP information on the following tabs:
Assess - (no entry) displays assessment data: achievement, cognitive, behavioral
Plan - goals, strategies, goal attainment
Monitor - progress monitoring and task list
Contact - (optional entry) record of parental contact (behavior, grades, health, counseling, etc.)
Observe - parent and student input
Transition - close the ALP for transition
Team Members - record of contributors to the ALP
Teachers will receive automated notification emails every Wednesday if there are missing components in a
students ALP. The notification will state which component is missing. Teachers will need to complete every
required component for the ALP to be considered complete. ALPs will be available for families through the Parent
Portal so it is crucial that all required components are completed. ALPs update every 24 hours.

10/31 Final ALP (parent signature- electronic)
12/20 Winter Mid-Year Progress Monitoring (enter in ALP)
2/15 Spring Mid-Term Progress Monitoring (communicate to parents - optional EWS entry)
5/18 End-of-Year Annual Review: Goal Attainment and Transition (enter in ALP)

Begin ALP Entry by logging into EWS
1. Locate the student you will be entering ALP information for by searching last name
2. Click the INTERVENTION tab located at the top. The current years ALP will be listed first in bold
followed by previous years ALPs (not bold) as Read Only.
3. Click on the current years ALP in bold to begin.
Plan (enter goals and strategies - 9/30 DRAFT ALP and EA Final ALP DUE)
1. To enter ALP information, click on the Plan tab.
2. Reasons for Intervention
a. The required goal Reasons will be listed. These Reasons are the gifted area of
identification and the required Affective component. Do NOT add Reasons!
b. Teachers will need to enter one SMART goal for each Reason
i. Click on the pencil icon for the ACADEMIC Reason you are entering a goal for
ii. You will see the Grade Level, Reason, and Start Date auto-populate
iii. In the space provided next to Goal/Goal Name/Other, teachers will enter the SMART
goal in its entirety (they may also enter standards/codes for reference)
iv. SAVE
v. Repeat for EACH ACADEMIC REASON
vi. For the AFFECTIVE Reason, click the pencil icon
vii. You will see the Grade Level, Reason, and Start Date auto-populate
viii. Select one NAGC Affective Standard to focus on for this school year
ix. SAVE
4. Supplemental Services
a. Teachers may enter any clubs, enrichments, or anything supplemental that the student takes
part in inside or outside of the school day. Example: Makerspace 4x a month, Mathcounts
club.
i. Click +Service
ii. A drop down menu and the Start Date will auto-populate
iii. Include a Description if necessary (if Other was chosen)
iv. SAVE
