Scene one

Robin and his friends

A horn sounds and music plays. The curtains rises on a spring day in Sherwood forest.(bird
sounds/warm lights)

Robin enters whistling cheerfully.He stops and breathes deeply and then speaks to the
audience when in fact he is talking to his friends (a group of young boys and girls)

Rob_ Isnt England nice in August, my friends?

His friends pop out from behind the trees to agree. Some eating and polishing their
apples, others playing with some straws and others playing a musical instrument

M1_Yes my dear Rob! England is beautiful at this time of the year.

M2_ Yes! Being by the mighty oaks of Sherwood is like being in paradise.

M3 _Thats right. A paradise.. with no obligations

M4_and no rules!!

M5_ and no worries!!

M1_ Just the green fields and a new adventure to come. What do you think ,Rob?

Everybody is looking at Rob. Waiting for his answer.

Rob_ adventureummm sure!!Thats my second name!

M2_ Hooray!!! And my third name!

M3_And my fourth,too!!!

M4_ and my.. counting his finger and my five????

All_ Fith M4!!Fith!!! (everybody laughs and slaps gently to their silly friend that cant
count well

M6_ADVENTURE???Are you all listening to yourselves, guys? (Sounds worried)

Rob_ come on M6! Dont spoil our feast.at our age what sort of worries should we
have?
All except M6_ None!!(shoulders up)

Rob_ See??? None!!! But what is the matter with you, M6? Dont you feel well with us?

M6_no, its not that

Rob_ SO!!!? What is it? (showing interest)

M6_ Its our England! You might have not realized yet but it is not the same.

Rob_ You must be kidding! England is the same! Whats more our beautiful Nottingham is
as prospero as ever!! Come on m6 theres nothing to worry about. (pauses) Besides, we
have the best king of all times!

M6_ Yes I agree with you. King Richard is good, brave and honest but He is fighting very
far and that scares me a bit.

Rob_ well you shouldnt be.He is a Lionheart!! He will be fine. (pauses breathes)

Long life to the King Richard the Lionheart!!

All_ yeap long life to King Richard!(making a bow)

Rob_ and may he return safe from the crusade

M1_ Yeah, God bless him!

Rob_ dont worry my friend, King Richard will return soon and safe. We are all praying for
that

M6_ I hope so.. but not everybody wishes the same

Rob_ who is not?

M6_ well for instance his brother. Prince John. He has always wanted to be in the
throne. Andif King Richard doesnt come back, he will steal his kingdom for sure.

Rob_Just over my dead body m6. Anyway if that worries you, we will keep an eye on that
ambitious prince

M6_ Thanks Rob

Rob_ dont mention it

Meantime M4 takes a fake crown and a piece of clothes and pretending to be Prince
John pares in front of his mates saying
M4_ yeswatch me! bUT watch me carefully!! If not. I will.. (makes a funny gesture)

Men and Rob_ hahahaaaa

Oh silly m4 you really make us laugh!!

M2 looks worried now

M2_Rob??

Rob_Yes, M2?

M2_ What if M6 is not wrong? If prince John finally gets what he wants,our greedy sheriff
of Nottingham will soon ruin us all too.

Rob_ That wont happen!!! As long as we , the sons and daughters of Nottingham do
something about it.

M2 _But what Rob? What should we do to keep the sheriff busy ?

Rob_I dont know M2 Has anyone got an idea?

M3_ not me

M4_ not me either

Rob_ well lets think

Music on some guys sitting on the grass,some others wondering around ( lights )

M4_ I know!!Rising his hand (Music stops) Nop! For get it! (music continues)

Little john sees Rob smiling and nodding ( with his head) as if he had finally got an idea

Little John_ I know that glance Rob!!... Rob??? What do you have in mind?

Rob- nothing in particular little John

Little John_ Come on Rob!! Tell me please!!

Rob_ ok.. Remember that old legend we read about that Hood and his outlaw men?

Little John_ Yes I remember that story pretty well but what does that Hood have to do
with us?

Rob_ Well, we can bring Robin hood and his men to our lives
Little John_ but how??

Rob_ We can pretend to be them

Little John_ Are you crazy??

Rob_ Yes, a little . But isnt it a good adventure?

Little John_ Yes it is but dont you think we are taking many chances for nothing? I mean
just because of a remote possibility?

Rob_ Perhaps but dont you want to bother the sheriff a little??? Pauses and looking at
Little John to his eyes says: _ I dooooo!

Little John_ LAUGHS me too!!! Imagine. Hahaha

Rob_ So lets tell the rest to see what they think

Little John_ Ok. I will call them. Little John taking out a horn calls the men and
women(horn sound ..curtain closes)
