Activities:
Out of Order Dialogue: Hand out and go over vocabulary list. Students will be given a
bag containing a cut up dialogue of a ticket clerk and passenger. Students will separate
into pairs and put the dialogue into the correct order then practice saying the
conversation as each assumes the role of a ticket clerk or passenger.
Introduction to modes of transportation: How do we get to? (by bus, by train, by car).
Using images of different modes of transportation, students will depict which is
appropriate while traveling to specific places.
Dialogue fill in the blank: students will partner up and listen to dialogue of two friends
traveling and fill in the missing words. After, students will practice saying dialogue as
teacher listens.
Assessment:
Dialogue project: Students will write dialogues in pairs about meeting their friend at the station
and present. Must ask the following questions:
Where are you going?
What will you do on your trip?
When is your plane arriving?
When is your plane departing?
How long is your trip?
How much luggage did you bring?
Students will write buying a return ticket conversation using the phrases and
vocabulary learned in class and present to the teacher

Activities:
Introduction to Telephoning: Students will receive phrase sheet and a dialogue fill in the
blank to complete and practice allowing them to become familiar with phrases used
while speaking on the phone.
Practice Dialogues: Through dialogues we will go over the different parts of a phone call,
including the introduction, making contact, asking to speak with someone, making
special requests, confirming information, and finishing a conversation.
Divide the students into pairs. Give each pair a set of Telephone Conversation
Scenario Cards and ask them to practice in front of the class.
Leaving a Message: Go through criteria for leaving a message:
1. Introduction
2. State the time of day and reason for calling
3. Make a request
4. Leave your telephone number
5. Finish
Assessment:
Telephone Dialogue: Students will write a 10 to12-line dialogue of a telephone
conversation using the phrases and vocabulary learned in class and present to the
teacher.
Leaving a Message practice: Students will write messages left over the phone for
specific situations and then write a message of their own.
